AVAILABLE REPORTS OF THE OFFICE BEARERS AND WORKERS OF MQM ARRESTED BY THE POLICE AND PARAMILITARY RANGERS

More MQM office bearers and workers have been arrested in the continuing MQM crush operation on the behest of the Government of Nawaz Sharif. False and fabricated charges have been levelled against them. Available details of these raids and arrests are:

5 December 1998

  1. The personnel of Bajore Agency Police arrested Imran Khan along with Mohammad Inaam Ul Haque, Zain Ul Abidin, Syed Faisal from Peshawar, Pakistan. Imran Khan 26, son of Nazeer Ahmed Khan, resident of R-542/8, Federal B. Area, Karachi. He is an active worker of MQM Unit 153, Sector Federal B. Area. All the others arrested with him are also active workers of MQM. They have been shifted to the Azizabad Police Station in Karachi for further interrogation.
  2. The personnel of Orangi Town Police Station along with some plain clothed personnel raided the residence of Saeed Badshah in Orangi Town. In his absence they misbehaved with the family members and ransacked the house. Saeed Badshah is the Member of Muttahida Organising Committee of MQM.
  3. The personnel of Landhi Police and the Paramilitary Rangers raided the residence of Sardar in Landhi. In his absence they arrested his three brothers namely Bakhtiar Khan 25, Imtiaz Khan 23 and Ayaz Khan 21. Sardar is the Member of Muttahida Organising Committee of MQM. The same raiding party raided several other houses of MQM workers and arrested Ayaz Gul, Rasheed Khan and Toor Khan.

4 December 1998

  1. At around 4 a.m., the personnel of Paramilitary Rangers raided the residence of Farooq in Ranchore Line, Karachi and arrested him. Faroq 50, is the former Incharge of MQM Ranhore Line Sector.
  2. At around 4 a.m., the personnel of Paramilitary Rangers and CIA Police in plain clothes raided the temporary residence of Musarrat Ali Khan in Sir Syed Town, North Karachi and arrested him. Musarrat Ali Khan 35, son of Mahboob Ali Khan, is the resident of B/48 Nazimabad No. 2, Karachi. He is the Member of the MQM Nazimabad Sector Committee.
