MOHAJIR NATION, THEIR LEADERSHIP AND ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES SUBJECTED TO TERRORISM BY THE GOVT. OF NAWAZ SHARIF

Karachi: December 1, 1998

The Government of Nawaz Sharif in its mission to crush the MQM has instructed the local Police and the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) to arrest, harass, torture, loot and plunder the MQM workers, supporters and their family members. Not even leaders, elected representatives, elderly people, small children and disabled persons are being spared in the urban centres of Sindh, southern Pakistan.

After falsely implicating Syed Zulfiquar Haider, Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), Sindh, in the murder case of Hakim Saeed, two other MPAs Shoaib Bukhari Advocate and Wakeel Jamali belonging to the MQM were unlawfully arrested from its MPA Hostel and subjected to most inhuman torture and are being pressurised to ‘change their allegiance’. In order to prevent the MQM from struggling through legal means, the Government of Nawaz Sharif is trying to frame fabricated charges against Qazi Khalid Ali Advocate, Member of Provincial Assembly of Sindh and a senior member of the MQM Legal Aid Committee.

Furthermore, Sardar Ishaq Advocate, a renowned lawyer and Member of MQM Central Co-ordination Committee is receiving death threats. The other day when he was on his way to the court, some hooded terrorists on motorcycles followed him. The same day his son was threatened by terrorists that he should tell his father to desist from working for the MQM Legal Aid Committee or face dire consequences.
