Rangers empowered to conduct raids: governor

By our correspondent

KARACHI: Governor Sindh Lt General (rtd) Moinuddin Haider has said that the Rangers have been conferred powers to conduct raids and carry out search for the arrest of criminals throughout Sindh, including Karachi.

This was stated by him while talking to newsmen after certificate distribution ceremony of Green Star Network for doctors at a local hotel on Thursday.

Answering to a question, the governor denied that the Army was being deployed in Karachi, saying that whenever Army would be called out it would assist the civil administration. He, however, hastily added that there was no need of Army in Karachi at the moment.

Replying to another question he said that terrorism and politics cannot go together as like fire and water. The governor said that his engagements will continue in Sindh, particularly in Karachi for the restoration of peace.

He advised the political parties not to get themselves involved in Kalashnikov business rather they should serve the masses through pure politics. The governor declared that all those involved in criminal activities will be apprehended irrespective of their political affiliations.
