MURDERS, RAIDS, ARRESTS AND TORTURE OF INNOCENT MQM WORKERS AND SUPPORTERS IS CONTINUING…
Karachi: June 30, 1998
Following are the details of murder, raids, arrest, and torture of innocent MQM workers and supporters by the Haiqqi terrorists and the personnel of law enforcement agencies.
A) -- DETAILS OF MURDER
Mohammad Salman, age: 35 year, son of Mohammad Yaseen, resident of Ameer Khusro Basti, I-Area, Korangi No. 5, Karachi. He was a supporter of MQM Unit 77, Sector Korangi.
On 29 June 1998, at around 3.30 p.m., Mohammad Salman, who is also a rickshaw driver was returning from Zaman Town, Korangi No. 4, Karachi, after dropping off a passenger near Sarfraz Pilot School. He was intercepted by the Haqiqi terrorists and shot dead from point blank range.
B) -- DETAILS OF TORTURE
1- Ahmed, age: 22 year, son of Qayyum, resident of House No. 120, D-Area, Korangi 3-1/2, Karachi. He is a supporter of MQM Unit 79, Sector Korangi.
In the morning of 30 June 1998, while he was on his way to work, the Haqiqi terrorists armed with lethal automatic weapon attacked him. He has received bullet wounds on his chest and legs. At present he is undergoing medical treatment and according to the doctors his condition is very critical.
2- Asif, age: 20 year, son of Hyder, resident of House No. 60, D-Area, Korangi, Karachi. He is a supporter of MQM Korangi Sector.
The Haqiqi terrorists escorted by the law enforcers were firing indiscriminately in D-Area, Korangi, Karachi. As a result Asif received bullet wounds in his abdomen and legs. At present he is undergoing medical treatment and according to the doctors his condition is very critical.
3- At around 1 p.m., the Haqiqi terrorists namely Asif Shaharyar, Iqbal alias Billoo, Shahid alias Shadda and Asif alias Joint, armed with automatic weapons and escorted by the law enforcers attacked some people who were sitting outside their homes in the A-1 Area, Malir. They opened fire upon them. As a result two people belonging to the MQM have been seriously wounded. Both the injured were rushed to the hospital where they are being treated in the intensive care unit of a local hospital. Details of those injured:
i- Mohammad Ashraf, age:26 year, son of Mohammad Yameen, resident of A-1 Area, Kala Board, Malir Colony, Karachi. He is a supporter of MQM Unit 102, Sector Malir.
ii- Mohammad Rehan Siddiqui, age: 22 year, son of Mohammad Sadiq Siddiqui, resident of A-1 Area, Kala Board, Malir Colony, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 102, Sector Malir.
C) -- DETAILS OF ILLEGAL RAIDS AND ARREST
30 June 1998
In the early hours of 30 June 1998, the Paramilitary Rangers along with the personnel of Police have raided the homes of several innocent MQM workers throughout Karachi. During these raids the Paramilitary Rangers and Police entered the homes forcibly, misbehaved with the family members and made arrests. Details of those arrested are:
1- Mohammad Nadeem, age: 30 year, son of Pyar Mohammad, resident of House No. 812, Sector 10-E, Orangi Town, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 126, Sector Orangi Town. The raiding party also arrested his brother Mohammad Faheem. Both these arrested are kept at the Mominabad Police Station.
2- Mansoor, age: 32 year, son of Mohammad Maqsood, resident of House No. 813, Sector 10-E, Orangi Town, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 126, Sector Orangi Town. The raiding party also arrested his brothers Saeed Ahmed and Mohammad Farooq. They are being detained at the Mominabad Police Station.
3- Badar Ul Islam, age: 46 year, son of Abdul Salam, resident of House No. 69, Sector 1-A, Orangi Town, Karachi. He is the brother of Ajmal, an MQM worker of MQM Unit 131, Sector Orangi Town. The Paramilitary Rangers and Police conducted the raid to arrest his brother but when he was not available the raiding party arrested his brother. Badar Ul Islam is seriously ill and suffering from tuberculosis. Since his arrest, the family members have tried their level best to locate him but his whereabouts are still unknown.
4- Adnan Ahmed, age: 22 year, son of Sultan Ahmed, resident of 18/8 11-G, New Karachi, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 143-A, Sector New Karachi. At around 3.30 a.m., the personnel of CIA Police and New Karachi Police Station arrested him from his house.
5- Nadir, age: 37 year, son of Mohammad Aleem, resident of Quarter No. 33, Block D-1, Pakistan Quarters, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 186, Sector Pak Colony. At around 4 a.m., the personnel of Pak Colony Police Station arrested him from his house.
6- Mohammad Ansar son of Mohammad Rafique, resident of House No. 119, Block-C, Hasrat Mohani Colony, Karachi. He is a supporter of MQM Unit 186, Sector Pak Colony. The personnel of Pak Colony Police Station arrested him from his house.
7- Shafique Khan, age: 25 year, son of Naseeb Khan, resident of 5-G, Jehangir Road, Saeedabad, Karachi. He was a worker of MQM Unit 113, Sector Baldia Town. At around 5 a.m., he was arrested by the personnel of Saeedabad Police Station.
8- Mohammad Mahmood, age: 29 year, son of Mohammad Ibrahim, resident of House No. 7, Muslimabad-N, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 94, Sector Malir. At around 3 a.m., the personnel of Malir City Police Station arrested him and his brother Mohammad Khalid, age: 30 year, from their house.
9- Muqeem Rana, age: 25 year, son of Abdul Hameed, resident of House No. 152, Musarrat Colony-D, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 94, Sector Malir. At around 3.30 a.m., the personnel of Malir City Police Station arrested him from his house.
10- Zubair, age: 25, son of Ale Muttalib, resident of Raam Building, Malir City, Karachi. He is a supporter of MQM Unit 94, Sector Malir. At around 2.30 a.m., the personnel of CIA Police and Paramilitary Rangers raided his house and arrested him.
11- At around 2.30 p.m., the personnel of CIA Police raided a house in Malir City and arrested two brothers Asim and Liaquat, both supporters of MQM Unit 94, Sector Malir.
i- Asim, age: 19 year, son of Barkat Ali, resident of Sangeet Cinema, Malir City, Karachi.
ii- Liaquat, age: 24 year, son of Barkat Ali.
12- Akhtar Ali, age: 45 year, son of Asghar Ali, resident of House No. 30, Area 13-H, Qasba Aligarh Colony, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 122, Sector Qasba Aligarh. At around 3 p.m., he was arrested from his shop by some plain clothed personnel of SITE Police Station.

13- Syed Salim Ali, age: 25 year, son of Syed Farzand Ali, resident of 31/8, 5-D, New Karachi, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 138, Sector New Karachi. On 29 June 1998, at around 9 p.m., he was arrested from the street by an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) of Police and a white Toyota corolla car. The persons sitting in both the cars were plain clothed.
14- Shaan Ul Hassan, age: 20 year, son of Ikraam Ullah Khan, resident of 12/20, C-Area, Liaquatabad, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 166, Sector Liaquatabad. On 29 June 1998, between 6 and 7 p.m., he was arrested by the personnel of Liaquatabad Police Station from near his house. The Police Officer involved in the arrest is now demanding a bribe of Rs. 100,000 from the family for the release of Shaan. He is threatening that if his demand would not be met then he will extra-judicially execute Shaan.
15- Musthaq Ahmed, age: 30 year, son of Abdul Mannan, resident of House No. A-28, Asif Colony, Manghopir Road, Karachi. He is a supporter of MQM Unit 187, Sector Pak Colony. At around 2.30 a.m., he was arrested by the personnel of Pak Colony Police Station from his house. After his arrest he has been taken to some unknown destination and his whereabouts are unknown.
