Safety steps at Keenjhar lake being taken


KARACHI, June 4: Special measures are being taken to put in place life saving mechanism at Keenjhar Lake. This was stated by Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism, Shabir Qaimkhani in a meeting with Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Wednesday.

The minister informed the governor that all steps were being taken to protect lives at the lake. Initially, he said that ambulance service, life jackets, posting of divers, fitness of boats will be ensured at the lake.

The governor asked the minister to ensure availability of telephones and provision of power supply for proper lightning along the lake. He emphasised the need to bring improvement in provision of basic facilities at all the picnic spots. He said that the performance of the administration at all picnic spots must also be monitored.

It may be recalled here that 26 people including women and children were drowned in Keenjhar Lake on the last Sunday.
