Abdul Khaliq, aged 35 years, son of Imam Uddin, resident of 14/1, Area 2-B, Landhi No. 2, Karachi, a worker of MQM Unit 87, Sector Landhi. He was shot dead outside the City Court at around 12 p.m. Abdul Khaliq, who himself was unlawfully imprisoned for 3 years, was brutally tortured while in custody of the State, resulting in the dismemberment of his vertebral column. Due to this permanent injury, he faced great difficulty in walking. Abdul Khaliq was released on 15 days earlier on parole and had gone to the City Court along with his colleague Mohammad Nadeem, to meet his fellow MQM workers who were incarcerated along with and had come to the Court to attend their hearing. In order to carry out this crime three Haqiqi terrorists who were confined in Central Prison Karachi, were brought to the City Court on forged "Production Orders". Their names are Fahim Ahmed alias Commando, Asim Inayat Ullah and Akhtar alias Bhoosa. The three were released from Police custody and were provided with motorbikes and lethal weapons for the criminal action. They opened fire on Abdul Khaliq and Mohammad Nadeem at point blank range. As a result of this Abdul Khaliq died on the spot and his colleague Mohammad Nadeem was seriously injured and taken to the Hospital. The exercise of such criminal act in broad daylight signifies the tacit support and patronage of Haqiqi terrorists by the Authorities.
