MQM is in favour of equal
rights for women. Without active participation of the women in
national affairs, the progress of the country is not possible. It
is, therefore, essential that women are encouraged to participate
in all walks of life.
MQM wants seats for women to be
reserved on permanent basis in the Senate, National and
Provincial Assemblies and also in the Local Bodies. A provision
in this respect should be made in the Constitution.
MQM wants the repeal of all laws and
wants to discontinue the policies, which tend to discriminate
against women. Moreover, the curse of dowry should be eliminated
with effective legislation.
Vocational training centres should be set up throughout the country where women can be taught and trained in different arts and skills. MQM wants to create such a social structure and system in the country whereby women could play their full role in national development.
