MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has stated that the MQM wants to establish a just and equitable system in the country where education, health, employment, justice and basic necessities of life are available for all. We want to make Pakistan corruption-free. If MQM comes into power and unable to end corruption then it will quit. The fanatics of Pakistan and India must learn lesson from the European Union, accept each other and establish friendly relations. If MQM comes into power then it will resolve the basic issues of Kashmiris and Seraikis. God willing MQM will protect the country and make it a progressive and developing country. Those claiming to change the fate of poor are themselves making properties and palaces; whereas, the poor of the country is deprived of flour and sugar. We condemn the politics where poor are deprived of basic necessities. He expressed these views on the occasion of his 56th birthday celebrations in London.
The gathering was organised by the MQM UK Unit which was attended amongst others by Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Pakistani High Commissioner for UK Wajid Shamsul Hassan, Nafees Siddiqui, Syed Nizam Ali Nizami (Gaddi Nashin of Dargah Khawaja Nizam Uddin Auliya), renowned legal expert Barrister Sibghat Ullah Quadri, renowned banker Khursheed Sohail, owner of Venus TV Tahir Ali, Former Lord Mayor Rugby and leader of Labour Party James Shera, Labour Councillor Zakia Zuberi, famous anchor persons Mubashir Lucman, P J Mir and Members of MQM Coordination Committee, MQM Ministers, Senators, Members of National and Provincial Assemblies, Haq Parast Town Nazims, MQM workers and office bearers of Pakistan, USA, Canada, Belgium and Gulf countries and people from all walks of life from UK including representatives of minorities were also present in large numbers.
Mr Hussain said that unemployment is at its peak due to economic crises throughout the world and as a result increase in the price of commodities of daily use is beyond the reach of common man. Therefore, poor and middle-class people of the world are faced with hardship and Pakistan too has been affected. Pakistan’s economic condition is such that we are visiting the world with the begging bowl in our hands. In the past, the Establishment has formulated policies based on the then current situation and unfortunately failed to assess the future impact of such policies. All the religious parties supported the American war against the Russians in Afghanistan and presented impression to the Pakistanis that America is the friend of Pakistan; whereas, Russia is the enemy of Muslims and Islam, therefore, jihad against Russia was endorsed. All the following autocratic and even political governments continued with this policy and involved the entire nation in this war of which we are witnessing the affects even today. Mr Hussain said that in television talk shows most of the participants blame the America for everything, whereas, the same elements used to present America as the friend of Muslims. Blaming America is directly related to such elements no longer receiving US Dollars. Why did we obey the USA in the past? Are we one of the State of USA?
Mr Hussain said that political leaders of the country promise the poor that their fate will change and in fact they kept their promise! The flour and sugar for poor disappear, poor parents faced with unemployment, hunger and hardships are compelled to sell their children. These leaders continue to amass their wealth, properties and palaces. The poor and needy of the country including elders, women and children are standing waiting in long queues and even losing their precious lives for basic necessities such as flour and sugar. He condemned the leadership that cannot even provide such basic necessities to its citizens. Mr Hussain said that he speaks the truth and therefore to keep the people of Punjab, NWFP, Balochistan and Sindh away from me and my ideology, false allegations of Jinnahpur and torture cells were levelled against the MQM. However, after 17 years, the same personalities and institutions that levelled these allegations have come forward and revealed that all this was a drama and concoction. It was alleged that Altaf Hussain is the enemy of Punjabis, Pathans, Sindhis, Baloch and Kashmiris; whereas, my only crime was that I refused to sell my conscious to the agencies. When Brig (R) Imtiaz Ahmed, upon the instructions of General Hameed Gul visited me at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital with a briefcase full of money – I refused to accept the money and told Brig Imtiaz to inform General Hameed Gul don’t try to buy me out. Altaf Hussain will prefer to die rather than to accept any money and that I will never sell my conscious or my ideology. Mr Hussain said that he was not born with a golden spoon and he challenged that not a single leader of any political party can come forward and say that he has offered tuition and travelled in public buses and then became a leader like myself. From the local bodies elections of 1987 till today, the MQM has been successful in all local bodies and general elections held in the country. MQM nominated mayors, deputy mayors, governor, city nazims, federal and provincial ministers and members of national, provincial assemblies and senate were elected but Altaf Hussain never built a bungalow in Defence, Clifton, Islamabad, Murree, Lahore or any other city. Today, Altaf Hussain still has a share in his parental home of 120 square yards, which was registered in his mother’s name and is owned jointly by all the family members. Mr Hussain informed that during his righteous struggle he was sent to prison thrice where he was subjected to inhuman and degrading treatment. First it was the summary military court during the rule of General Ziaul Haq that sentenced him to nine months imprisonment with five lashes. However, I refused to surrender or begged for pardon and in fact completed his sentence of nine months. On the other hand, there are leaders of this country who signed the confessional statements and pardon statements to get release from the prison and continued to deceive the people that they have not signed the pardon statement. All is now crystal clear and the people know who is right and who is wrong. As a result of the MQM’s character and practice, the poor and middleclass people of the country are now calling upon the MQM at its International Secretariat in London, Nine Zero in Azizabad, Punjab, NWFP, Balochistan, Gilgat, Biltistan, Skurdu, Northern Areas, FATA, Azad Kashmir to come for their rescue and start its operations for righteous struggle in their areas too. Announcing the good news Mr Hussain said that the MQM is now embarking upon becoming the largest and only political party of the country representing the poor and middle class people of Pakistan. Within a month the MQM will hold its Punjab Convention where Mr Hussain will address the crowd and inform them how the jagirdars and feudals of Punjab have been looting the poor people of the country for the past 62 years. He said that MQM has been raising its voice for the Seraiki people and when the MQM comes into power it will attain the rights of the oppressed Seraikis. Commenting on the Kashmir Issue Mr Hussain said that India and Pakistan is treating Kashmiris like football, however, I want to clarify that Kashmir is not a property of anyone else but only Kashmiris and when MQM comes into power it will resolve the Kashmir Issue too.
Addressing the war fanatics of India and Pakistan Mr Hussain asked them not to deceived the people of Pakistan and India anymore and learn some lesson from the European Union. When the European countries can sit together and forget their differences and form the European Union then Pakistan and India must also accept each other and establish friendly relations between the two countries as this is the only way forward for the welfare of the citizens of both the countries.
Mr Hussain informed that there is no feudal within the ranks and file of the MQM and is comprised of poor and middleclass people of the country that are not making money for themselves or for their family and are in fact busy in serving their constituents, cities and the province. Altaf Hussain and MQM will eliminate the conspirators who are conspiring to destabilise Pakistan and will defend and the country. MQM wants to abolish the feudal system and corrupt political culture from the country and also wants to eliminate the dual educational system. We want to see that the poor of the country too have the same opportunities of education for their children and same educational facilities for the poor and rich. We will seek those who have looted the national exchequer, have their huge loans written off and will auction their properties and will deposit the recovered amount in the national exchequer. MQM wants a corruption free Pakistan. If MQM comes into power and not able to end corruption then we will quit. MQM wants to evolve a system based on equality where the rich and the poor enjoy equal opportunities for education, health, justice, employment, etc. MQM wants to establish a just system where access to justice is available for all. MQM is for all the citizens of Pakistan. We are struggling for the sustenance and security of the country and will be successful in defending the country and also bring it into the league of the developed countries of the world.
