URDU SPEAKING LOCALITY WOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER SIEGE AND TORMENTED HAD RANGERS PERSONNEL EITHER WOUNDED OR KILLED IN URDU SPEAKING LOCALITY

 ALTAF HUSSAIN

London, 12 September 2005...Mr Altaf Hussain, founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has strongly condemned the attacks on police stations and killing of Ranger personnel by Jihadi terrorists in Sohrab Goth, Karachi. The deplorable incident took place when an “Imam” (leader of a Mosque) was murdered in Sohrab Goth by un-identified terrorists.

Mr Hussain said that the attackers equipped with latest automatic weapons belong to Jihadi movements, according to the local residents. The jihadi attacked the police station and set it alight earning death of ranger’s personnel and injuries to many other persons.

Mr. Altaf Hussain said that it is amazing that despite jihadi terrorism the police and administration took no action against the armed terrorists. Instead of arresting the criminals police is engaged in dialogue with them. This police action shows that 70% of the force are patriotic and dedicated, where as the remaining have links with Jamat-e-Islami and Al-Qaeda. He pointed out that had a Ranger’s personnel been shot dead in an Urdu speaking area all hell would have let loose upon the residents of the locality. Even women, children and elderly would not have been spared and petrol tanks would have been jettisoned from the air.

Mr. Altaf Hussain asked the top personalities in the government that in southern Waziristan there is an army operation going on against Al-Qaeda and Jihadi suspects but the same Al-Qaeda and jihadi’s are freely roaming in Karachi and there is no attempt to confiscate their arms and ammunitions. Why? He appealed to President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ibad, Chief Minister Sindh Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Corp. Commander Lt. Gen. Syed Athar Ali, D.G Rangers Maj. Gen. Javed Zia and I.G Sindh Asad Jehangir to urgently apprehend the culprits of Al-Qaeda and other Jihadi movements in Karachi, and also take action against those personnel who are aiding and abetting the
