Wars are not solution of the problems
Every dispute is finally resolved on negotiation table
Discussions on the meeting between Pakistani and
Israeli foreign ministers
in the important meeting of MQM Central Coordination Committee
Karachi: 2 September, 2005
An important meeting of the Central Coordination Committee of Muttahida Quami
Movement (MQM) was held yesterday, which was chaired by its convenor Dr. Imran
Farooq. Dr. Farooq Sattar, Deputy Convenor, Mr. Anwar Alam, Incharge
Coordination Committee Pakistan, Joint Incharge Abdul Haseeb and other members
of the Coordination Committee were also present while members of the
Coordination Committee from London including Mr. Tariq Jawed, Senior Deputy
Covenor also participated over the phone. Apart from other issues, the reported
meeting between foreign ministers of Pakistan and Israel was also discussed. The
Coordination Committee issued a statement after the meeting, which stated that
wars are not solutions of the problems but ultimately negotiations and
discussions are the only means to solve the problems. Pakistan and India have
fought three wars in last 56 years but finally, both the countries have decided
to engage into a dialogue for the solutions of the problems between the two
countries. After fighting for so many years, Israelis and Palestinians are also
seeking solutions of their disputes through dialogue. As a result, Palestinians
and some Arab States have recognised Israel. The Government of United Kingdom
also decided to sit on negotiations table to resolve the conflict in Northern
Ireland, after engaging in fight for many years. Negotiations are going on in
different areas of the world for the peaceful solution of the disputes and that
proves that negotiations should not be abandoned but it should continue. The
Coordination Committee said that those, who are opposing the negotiations and
dialogue, are in fact not interested in the solution of the disputes but they
use these dispute and exploit the emotions of common people for their political
interests. People of Pakistan are mature and they know very well that these
elements have always opposed dialogue within the country as well and have been
part and parcel of the forces during their operations against the people in
different parts of Pakistan. The Coordination Committee further said that we are
with Palestinian people in peaceful struggle for their rights and we feel that
if Israelis and Palestinians can engage in dialogue to solve their disputes, why
should we oppose the dialogue between Pakistan and Israel? Rather we should help
our Palestinian brothers to solve their dispute through dialogue and play a
positive role for the settlement of this important dispute of Islamic world. The
Coordination Committee said that it is the right of the people of Pakistan to be
aware of all the important steps taken on sensitive issues and therefore it is
the responsibility of the Government that common men in Pakistan are taken into
confidence before any important decision is taken.
