MQM RELIEF ACTIVITIES IN AMERICA

MQM Washington DC unit, together with the members organizing committee, member Coordination Committee Mr. Arif Khan, Nigran-e-Alaa Washington Riaz Siddiqui, Unit In-charge Tariq Bin Hameed and other members of the local units, upon instructions from the Quaid-e-Tehrik Altaf Hussain started visiting the Mosques and Churches to show solidarity and share the grief with the American Nation.

The MQM's delegation visited Dumfries Church of God in Virginia where Father Joseph Williams greeted the delegation and introduced them to a Packed Service Hall. The audience stood up and clapped for several minutes to welcome MQM members. MQM's delegation, on behalf of Quaid-e-Tehrik Altaf Hussain, presented flowers to Father Joseph and the attendees.  MQM team thanked the church volunteers for guarding the area mosques during the Friday prayers to avoid and mishap.

MQM team presented the church a copy of Quaid-e-Tehrik's appeal.  Father Joseph thanked the MQM team in general and Quaid-e-Tehrik Altaf Hussain in particular for their efforts for solidarity between Muslims and Non-Muslims. After the Service prayers, almost the whole crowd came forward to shake hands with the MQM members.

Another MQM team visited the Darul-Huda Mosque and Islamic centre in Springfield, VA and met with the administration members there. MQM team requested the administration to play their positive role in making Muslim brothers fully understand the severity of the situation and to extend full support to the victims and the American Nation as a whole.

Afterwards, MQM team visited several Pakistani businesses, restaurants and shops and asked them if any hate groups subjected them to any violence or if they have received any threats from any such groups. The MQM team, upon receiving information of attack on local Pakistani business namely A-One groceries visited the same but found that the information was incorrect.

However, the owner of the business thanked the MQM team for their concern and efforts. MQM members joined several rallies held by the local school and colleges to show solidarity with the victims. MQM Team participated in these rallies throughout Saturday and Sunday and were warmly welcomed by the organizers.

The MQM Washington DC unit sent letters to Senator Hillary Clinton of NY, Senator John Warner of Virginia, and Mayor Tony Williams of Washington DC, to show their support and to apprise them of MQM efforts in rescue operations.
