ALTAF HUSSAIN ASKS GOVERNMENT AND JUDICIARY TO RESPECT EACH OTHER

KARACHI: 15TH OCTOBER 2010

MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has appealed to the government and judiciary to respect each other and strengthen each other. The government should follow the directives of the Supreme Court because the in this lies the permanence to constitution, law, justice and welfare of the country. He made it clear that the decadent feudalist system and corruption could not go hand in hand in Pakistan. “If the country is to be saved then the rotten feudalist system will have to be brought to an end”. He asked those who wield power in the country to bring forward honest and patriotic people forward and bring corruption to an end if the country was to be saved.

He made these observations while addressing a public meeting in Aftab Ground Orangi Town Karachi in connection with by-election of PS - 94 and asked the people of Orangi Town to cast their vote without fail and prove their unity by putting stamp on the election symbol “Kite” of the Haq Parast candidate. The seat fell vacant because of the martyrdom of Haq Parast Member of Provincial Assembly Syed Raza Haider.

The public meeting was attended in multitudes by all ethnic groups. Men, women, and children came in large number to attend the meeting. The fervour of the people particularly of women was worth seeing. Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee Dr Farooq Sattar and members Wasim Aftab and Mustafa Kamal and the MQM nominee for the seat Saifuddin Khalid spoke on the occasion.

Mr Altaf Hussain addressed in both Urdu and Pashto. He informed the audience that the Parliamentarians had submitted a bill in the National Assembly and God wiling a day would come when the feudalist system would see its end in the country.

He termed Orangi Town as “Altaf Town” and said, “Altaf means kindness and love and Orangi Town is an area who love and sacrifice their lives. Today the followers of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Khushhal Khan Khattak, Rehman Baba and Bacha Khan are attending this meeting along with Bengalis, Seraikis, Kashmiris, Christians and Sikhs with the standard of peace and love in their hands.

He paid rich tributes to Martyr MPA Syed Raza Haider and informed the people that now Saifuddin Khalid was nominated for the by-election on PS- 94. He admired the courage of the people of Orangi Town as fierce as lion and said that the people of Orangi Town can lay down their lives but could not become disloyal to the movement of righteousness. He said, “Our struggle will come to success in the fullness of time and the people of Orangi Town will be the vanguard of the imminent revolution that will bring an end to corruption, injustice, unemployment and oppression.

He said that five workers of MQM were killed two days ago after kidnapping in order to foil the public meeting of MQM by terrorizing the people “but the large number of people gathered here is a demonstration of the fact that MQM supporters cannot be terrorized through conspiracies and bloodshed”.

He said that the murder of MQM Convener Dr Imran Farooq and the murders of five MQM workers was a part of continuing conspiracies against MQM. He hoped that the Scotland Yard and other investigating agencies would succeed in arresting the murderers of Dr Imran Farooq. He said that God would hold to account the murders of MQM workers and after the revolution public accountability will be held of all those involved in killing MQM workers.

Speaking in Pashto he said that propaganda was done to keep Pakhtoons away from MQM but now they had come to realize that MQM and Altaf Hussain was the real well-wisher of Pakhtoons. He appealed to Urdu and Pashto speaking people to maintain unity.

He instructed MQM workers to respect the candidates of other parties that were taking part in the by-election and likewise candidates of other parties should respect MQM’s candidate. “Be patient and participate in the election as democracy-loving civilized Pakistanis and instead of becoming the enemy of each other, accept the victory of the winning candidate. This is the way that civilized people act”.

Mr Altaf Hussain asked MQM candidate Saifuddin Khalid not to disappoint the people of his constituency and serve the people with dedication, honesty and integrity without any discrimination of caste, colour and creed.

In the end he lauded MQM workers for their role in helping the people affected by earthquake and floods and saluted them for organizing a successful and disciplined public meeting in Orangi Town.
