MQM DELEGATION MEET DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER UK MR. NICK CLEGG
SHEFFIELD: 5TH OCTOBER 2010:
Member of Co-ordination Committee of MQM Mr. Saleem Shahzad has met British 
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and conveyed well wishes from MQM Founder and 
Leader Mr. Altaf Hussain.
Mr. Shahzad apprised Mr. Clegg about the aims and objectives of MQM and its 
struggle as a liberal and democratic political party in Pakistan working for the 
poor and middle class people. He informed him that MQM was struggling to 
establish an equitable system in Pakistan free from corruption and extremism. He 
told him that MQM believed in equal rights for all citizens irrespective of 
their cast, colour, creed sex, sect and religion.
Mr. Shahzad also informed Mr. Clegg about the murder of MQM Convener Dr. Imran 
Farooq and sought help in arresting the murderers.  Mr. Clegg expressed sorrow 
on the murder of Dr. Imran Farooq and assured that the British Police was 
utilizing all means to arrest the murderers.
Earlier Mr. Clegg addressed ceremony organized by members of Pakistani community 
and appreciated the relief activities of NGOs and welfare organizations. 
Representatives from welfare several welfare organizations including the Society 
for Unwell and Needy (SUN) of MQM participated in the ceremony in large numbers.
Mr. Clegg appreciated the role of SUN and other welfare organizations of Britain 
for their relief activities for the victims of flood in Pakistan. The Organizer 
of MQM UK and trustee of SUN shed light on the activities of SUN through a small 
film and brief data. He informed that SUN had sent relief goods worth millions 
of rupees to Pakistan.
Mr. Clegg said that the flood that hit Pakistan was the worst in its history and 
Britain has already doubled its assistance for Pakistan. He added that Britain 
was stressing upon other European countries to help Pakistan in order to meet 
the challenges of the disaster. Mr. Clegg said that he would try to try to give 
Pakistan access to international markets.
