MQM OBSERVES YOM-E-DUA'A FOR THE VICIMS OF EARTHQUAKE

London - 16th October 2005..MQM observed Yom-e-Dua'a (Prayers Day) in remembrance of those who lost their lives and those who have been left destitute as a result of the tragic earthquake of 8th October 2005. The central congregations was held at Jinnah Ground Azizabad Karachi where the Members of MQM Coordination Committee, workers and supporters, MQM's ministers, advisers, parliamentarians and newly elected city nazim and town  nazims and councillors attended, whereas people also gathered in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Sanghar, Noshero Feroze, Badin, Thatta, Dadu, Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Qambar, Shahdadkot, Kashmore, various cities in Punjab, Balochistan and NWFP, particularly at Muzaffarbad Azad Kashmir, Mansehra (NWFP)  and Islamabad; attended by local officer bearers, workers and supporters of MQM as well as KKF volunteers and Members of MQM Medical Aid Committee. MQM founder & leader Mr Altaf Hussain made a short telephonic address, offered fateha and dua'a(prayers) for the earthquake victims including the army personnel who lost their lives .

In his telephonic address Mr Hussain praised the sincere efforts, courage and dedication of the KKF volunteers and doctors of MQM Medical Aid Committee for attending to the needs of the victims. He said that relief goods are still being collected and despatched to the affected areas via trains, aeroplanes and other modes of transportation. He praised that people of Sindh in general and the people of Karachi in particular for participating in the relief efforts and donating generously. He reminded that it is the month of Ramadan and to serve humanity is the biggest worship of all. He also prayed for the volunteers, doctors and paramedical staff, who are busy in providing relief to the victim. At this moment he appealed to the affluent people to come forward and offer to support the hundreds and thousands of children who have been made orphans as a result.
