TRUE ACT OF FAITHFULNESS IS DEVOID OF ANY WISH FOR REWARD OR DESIRES – ALTAF HUSSAIN

London – 13 October 2000

Mr Altaf Hussain, Founder and Leader of the Muttahida Quami Movement  (MQM), stated that the act of true loyalty is devoid of any wish for reward or desires.  Therefore those who fulfil true loyalty should not anticipate or desire for any reward even after attaining positive results of their struggle.  Moreover, the responsible persons of the Movement, who preach and teach others, should first themselves act accordingly.  Mr Hussain was addressing a study circle at the International Secretariat in London.

Mr Hussain said that loyalty is the basic requirement for the success of any Movement or an ideology.  The true attachment of those who are faithfully involved in the Movement is proved by the fact that they continue to devotedly fulfil their obligations.  If the people involved with the Movement trade their devotion, accept rewards for their loyalty or assume to be exempted from discipline, then such devotion, loyalty or faithfulness becomes frightening.  A true devotion, loyalty or faithfulness is devoid of any wish for rewards or desires.  Therefore, those who are devoted, faithful or loyal to the cause should overcome all the difficulties, problems and complications, which come in the path of their struggle.  Furthermore, they should not insist for rewards even after attaining positive results of the struggle.  Similarly, after successfully overcoming all the difficulties in the way of the struggle by correcting oneself and reaching the height of steadfastness, one should not consider himself or herself as exempted from the rules and regulations necessary for maintaining the discipline.  If those involved in the Movement do not fulfil and perform according to the rules and regulations mentioned above then it not only proves harmful for the Movement but also upsets its disciplinary rules and regulations.

All those, who sacrifice their natural personal desires and needs over the requirements of the Movement, emerge in the history as truly loyal, devoted and faithful to the Movement. In other words, only those who fulfil the above-mentioned formula are always remembered in the history whereas the big names, who come and leave the Movement, that fail to fulfil the formula are forgotten and the history holds them accountable of their misdeeds and deficiencies thus all their positive works and sacrifices will be lost in the background.  The names of those who carry out the work and fulfil their responsibility with full devotion are written in the history with golden words.  Therefore the responsible persons of the Movement should first practically impose upon themselves the teachings and preaching before lecturing others.

Mr Hussain said that he is assured that his true companions who love him, the Movement, the ideology, and respect the blood of the martyrs, would not only understand but also reflect upon his teachings.
