Muttahida perturbed at mysterious
goings-on around Nine-Zero

By our correspondent

KARACHI: An emergency meeting of the Muttahida Coordination Committee was held at Nine-Zero, Azizabad, on Friday to discuss the possible outcome of cars going about in the area, driven by fishy characters, under mysterious circumstances.

The committee demanded of the Chief of the Army Staff, Gen Pervez Musharraf, and members of National Security Council, to take immediate cognisance of such illegal activities of the police and order an inquiry. It also sent SOS messages to the COAS in which details of the mysterious activities have been elaborated upon, being termed conspiracies being hatched to fail this government.

The committee expressed its deep concern over the movement and the video film made by these suspicious people. It alleged that the illegal arrest of Muttahida workers and supporters was still continuing despite the dismissal of the Nawaz government.

According to a Muttahida press release, at about 2 pm on Friday, a yellow cab No PL-7142 came over to Nine-Zero and started making a video film of the area, something that is highly objectionable and fraught with pernicious dangers. The committee's deputy-convenor has sent SOS messages to the president, chief justice of the Sindh High Court, and the IG Police, Sindh, regarding the matter.

Meanwhile, Dr Farooq Sattar, member of the Coordination Committee, has urged upon the Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf that the DSP CIA Ghulam Subhani and other responsible police officers should be immediately apprehended in connection with the extra-judicial killing of Fasih Ahmed alias Jugnu and dealt with according to the law.

Farooq also demanded of the chief executive to frame formal murder charges on former prime minister Nawaz Sharif as he had claimed, in a press conference, that the case was being investigated under his personal supervision.
