London – 29th November 2008

Meanwhile the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani also called Mr. Altaf Hussain and discussed with him the current state of affairs in the aftermath of terrorism in the Indian city of Mumbai. The Prime Minister informed Mr. Hussain that Pakistan is being blamed for the incident whereas Pakistan itself is faced with terrorism and its security forces are busy fighting against terrorism within the country. As a result several personnel of law enforcement agencies have lost their lives while fighting terrorism. He said that both Pakistan and India are faced with terrorism and that Pakistan is prepared to offer all the assistance needed for the investigation purposes. Mr. Hussain agreed with the Prime Minister. Both the leaders strongly condemned the terrorism in Mumbai and expressed their heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives. Both the leaders agreed that Pakistan is a responsible country and will act responsibly instead of emotionally. Mr Hussain stressed the need of not issuing any provocative statements towards India by any political leader of Pakistan as this will only worsen the already critical situation.
