MUSTAFA KHAR MEETS WITH ALTAF HUSSAIN AT THE INTERNATIONAL SECRETARIAT IN LONDON

 London – 19 November 2000

Mr Ghulam Mustafa Khar, prominent politician from Punjab met with Mr Altaf Hussain, MQM Founder and Leader at the International Secretariat in London.  Present in the meeting were Dr Imran Farooq, Convenor MQM Coordination Committee along with other members of Coordination Committee including Mr Tariq Javed, Mr Saleem Shahzad, Mr Mohammad Anwar, Chief Organiser MQM UK & Europe and Mr Syed Tariq Meer, Joint Chief Organiser MQM UK & Europe.  The meeting continued for two and a half hours, which included an hour-long discussion in isolation between Mr Hussain and Mr Khar.  The two leaders discussed in detail the present political situation of the country, the growing sense of deprivation and unrest amongst the smaller nations and its implication upon the Federation, the increasing spread of religious and sectarian extremism and the deteriorating economical situation of the country.  Both the leaders agreed to remain in touch and carry out joint efforts to save the country and make the atmosphere conducive where the people of all the four provinces could live their lives honourably.  In the end, Mr Ghulam Mustafa Khar was presented a set of MQM videos and literature.
