SHAKEEL AHMED SHAIKH, A YOUNG MQM WORKER ABDUCTED AND BRUTALLY MURDERED BY THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES IN KARACHI

Shakeel Ahmed Shaikh 32, son of Zahoor Ahmed Shaikh, an MQM worker of Unit 159, Sector Liaquatabad, abducted and ruthlessly murdered by the personnel of law enforcement agencies in Karachi.  According to report, Shakeel Ahmed Sheikh was abducted on 15 November 2000, by the personnel of law enforcement agencies.  He was kept in custody at unknown destination and brutally tortured.  After severely torturing him for two days, he was shot dead.  His dead body was dumped near a house E-35/1 Jehangir Road, Karachi, Pakistan.  Torture marks were visible all over his body.  A bullet was fired at his head from point blank range causing his death.

 

Shakeel Ahmed Shaikh was an employee in the Public Health Department.  Before 1996, Shakeel Ahmed Shaikh lived in Hyderabad.  Because of numerous illegal raids upon his residence and harassment to his family members by the personnel of law enforcement agencies, he shifted to Karachi along with his wife.  In Karachi, he was residing in the Liaquatabad Area along with his wife and a three-month-old daughter.  Prior to his abduction, he was seen leaving the residence of his in-laws in Jamshed Quarter Area, Karachi.

 

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) is the third largest political party of Pakistan and the second largest in the province of Sindh.  More than 15000 MQM leaders, workers and supporters have been murdered extrajudicially since the commencement of the Army Operation on 19 June 1992, to crush the MQM, the sole representative political party of over 30 million Mohajirs.
