THE MQM WILL RESOLVE THE KASHMIR DISPUTE: ALTAF HUSSAIN

LONDON: 23RD MAY 2011

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the Kashmiri people have always been beguiled by the self-centred politicians. If the MQM gets a chance to come into power in Kashmir, it will not only resolve the Kashmir dispute but also get the people of Kashmir their legitimate rights. He said this while talking to Kashmiri workers at the International Secretariat of the MQM who hail from different cities of the United Kingdom.

The Kashmiri workers asked several questions from Mr Altaf Hussain regarding the current sensitive situation in Pakistan and events taking place at the international level. Mr Altaf Hussain gave detailed replies to the questions asked by the workers.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Altaf Hussain said that it was not easy to talk about the rights of poor people, workers, farmers and salaried class of the society. The path of the just struggle, he said, was strewn with hardships and insurmountable obstacles. The people who struggle for a just cause and remain steadfast ultimately get the success. Mr Altaf Hussain said that the basic reasons for the current economic and political degradation in the country were the culture of dynastic politics and age-old feudal system. The MQM is the only political party that is working for interests of the poor and middle class people of the country.

He said that the MQM had been taking part in the elections for several years but sincere, hardworking and honest workers of the party are given preference over his family members.

He said that the self-centred politicians were presenting a distorted image of the Pakistan envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. We would have to improve this image of our country in the world and prove with our actions that Pakistan is a real sovereign country.

He said that the MQM is making sincere efforts for the rights of the Kashmiri people. The MQM was the only political party that served the people of jamu Kashmir after the catastrophic earthquake. He praised the Haqparast Kashmiri workers for their ceaseless struggle.

They impressed upon the workers to bear with patience and added that their just struggle would certainly meet with success. They demanded President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take serious notice of the killing of Iftikhar Hussain.
