The woman beaten up in the police station at Faisalabad is quite shameful – MQM

Karachi – 2nd May 2010

The Rabita Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement has highly condemned the act of severe beating of a woman Abida Hameed at the Sol Line Police Station Faisalabad. The Raibta Committee said that in the presence of high police officials the government officials had beaten up the woman in such a manner is quite shameful and proves that the old fashioned Jagir system is prevalent in Punjab and they lead to these incidents in Punjab almost on a daily basis, although no religion allows such treatment of a woman. The Rabat Committee said that a few days ago the police had beaten up some journalists and now it’s a woman, and they greatly condemn such an act. Rabta Committee has requested Governor Punjab Salman Taseer and Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to take immediate notice of this incident at the Sol Line Police Station and the people responsible for it should be punished.
