ALTAF HUSSAIN WELCOMES THE GOVERNMENT DECISIONS WITH
REGARDS TO KALABAGH DAM AND PAKHTOONKHWA PROVINCE

MQM Founder & Leader Mr. Altaf Hussain has welcomed the decision of not building the Kalabagh Dam and changing the name of NWFP Province to Pakhtoonkhwa through the constitutional package and has termed this prudent.

 

He said that Kalabagh Dam was a controversial project and has created differences between the provinces. He said that such decisions prove that the Government is not wasting time and money on non-issues and concentrating on developmental projects keeping in view the aspirations of the citizens of Pakistan.

 

Similarly, changing the name of NWFP Province to Pakhtoonkhwa has been a longstanding demand of the people of this province and the MQM has always supported this demanded and this is reflected in MQM’s manifesto as well.

 

He said that the MQM will continue to support all government actions taken for the progress and prosperity of the country, promotion of democracy and for the welfare of the people of Pakistan.

 

He paid tribute to the PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and his cabinet for taking bold and sensible decision with regards to Kalabagh Dam and Pakhtoonkhwa Province.
