REPORTS OF ATROCITIES UPON
MQM WORKERS, SUPPORTERS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS BY THE NAWAZ
SHARIF GOVT.
4 May 1999
At around 5 a.m., Police raided the residence
of Asif and arrested him. He is a worker of MQM Unit 143-A,
Sector North Karachi.
3 May 1999
At around 5 a.m., the personnel of Khwaja Ajmer
Nagri Police Station raided the temporary residence of Shahid
Nisar and arrested him. The raiding party then went to the house
of his in-laws and beat them up. The family was told that Shahid
is being taken to Dadu Jail, in the interior Sindh and would be
kept with hardened criminals.
1 May 1999
- The personnel of Momanabad Police Station,
led by SHO Aslam Baloch raided the residence of Moinuddin
at House no 446 Sector 1-A Orangi Town, Karachi, and
arrested him. Moinuddin 28, son of Raj Mohammad is a
worker of MQM Unit 131, Orangi Town Sector, Karachi.
- At around 4 a.m., the CIA Police raided
the temporary residence of Syed Khalid Rizvi and arrested
him. Syed Khalid Rizvi 30, son of Syed Nafees Rizvi is a
worker of MQM Unit 143-A, Sector North Karachi.
- At around 7 p.m., the personnel of CIA
Police arrested Zia Uddin while he was dinner with his
wife at a restaurant in Nazimabad, Karachi. The CIA
Police told his wife that Zia Uddin would be kept in
custody at the Azizabad Police Station. But the Police
Station is denying of having any knowledge regarding the
whereabouts of Zia Uddin 31, son of Naseer Uddin. He is
the Incharge of MQM Unit 143-A, Sector North Karachi.
30 April 1999
The personnel of Samanabad Police Station
raided the temporary residence of Syed Arif Hyder, and arrested
him. Arif Hyder son of Syed Safi Hyder is the Joint Incharge of
MQM Unit 174, North Nazimabad Sector, Karachi.
29 April 1999
At around 10 a.m., the personnel of Taimuria
Police Station arrested Syed Nauman Hyder from near Pyala Hotel,
Peoples Colony, Karachi. He was severely tortured in police
custody and accused of supplying arms to Nine Zero, the MQM
Headquarters. Syed Nauman Hyder 30, son of Syed Safdar Hussain,
is the resident of Peoples Colony, Block-N, Batha Town, North
Nazimabad, Karachi. He is the elder brother of Wajahat, the
Incharge of MQM Unit 173, Sector North Nazimabad.
28 April 1999
The personnel of Usmanabad Police Station
raided the residence of Anis. He is a member of MQM Lyari Sector
Committee. In his absence they ransacked the house and misbehaved
with his family members.
27 April 1999
At around 3 a.m., the personnel of Kharadar
Police Station raided the temporary residence of Mohammad Saeed
and arrested him. Mohammad Saeed 24, son of Mohammad Sharif is a
resident of Farooq Colony, Orangi Town, Karachi. He is a worker
of MQM Unit 123, Orangi Town Sector, Karachi.
24 April 1999
- The personnel of Obaro Police Station
Sukkur, raided the temporary residence of Tayyab, Member
of MQM Obaro Unit Committee, Sukkur Zone and arrested him
with three other workers. Those arrested are: Dr. Sattar,
Tanweer and Waheed
- The personnel of C.I.A Police raided the
temporary residence of Abdul Latif son of Abdul Aziz,
Joint Incharge of Society Sector, at A-26, Sector 11-A,
North Karachi. As he was not present in the house, the
raiding party arrested his three brothers namely: Abu
Ibrahim, Abdul Qadir and Abdul Rahim.
- The Personnel of C.I.A Police raided the
residence of Junaid Jamal. He is a supporter of MQM
Society Sector, Karachi, and arrested him with seven
workers of MQM Society Sector. Those who were arrested
are: Asif Saleem, Suhaib Junaid, Zeeshan, Kamal, Imran,
Hamid and Kamran
- At around 10:30 a.m., the personnel of
C.I.A Police, led by SI Shahbaz raided the temporary
residence of Gulzar Ahmed and arrested him. Gulzar Ahmed
45, son of Fasih Ahmed is a resident of House No A/R-106
Steel Town Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Labour
Division.
23 April 1999
- The personnel of C.I.A Police raided the
house of Azhar. In his absence they ransacked the house,
misbehaved with his family members and arrested his elder
brother Mazhar. Azhar is a worker of MQM Unit 173, North
Nazimabad Sector, Karachi.
- The personnel of C.I.A Police raided the
residence of Aslam in Orangi Town, Karachi, and arrested
him. He is a supporter of MQM. He is being detained at
the C.I.A Centre, where he is being subjected to brutal
torture.
- At around 12 p.m., the personnel of Orangi
Town Police Station, led by SI Mehmood, raided the
residence of Nasir Iqbal, and arrested him. Nasir Iqbal
23, son of Shamim Tauheed is a worker of All Pakistan
Mohajir Student Organisation (APMSO), the student wing of
MQM.
21 April 1999
The personnel of Sharifabad Police Station
raided the temporary residence of Nadeem Akhtar and arrested him.
Nadeem Akhtar 27, is a member of the MQM P.I.B Sector Committee.
18 April 1999
At around 3 a.m., the personnel of Nazimabad
Gulbhar Police Station, led by DSP Chaudhry Aslam raided the
temporary residence of Abdul Salam and arrested him. Abdul Salam
30, son of Abdul Sattar is a worker of MQM Unit 181, Nazimabad
Gulbhar Sector, Karachi.
