OUR STRUGGLE IS NOT AGAINST THE FEUDALS OR WADERAS BUT IT IS AGAINST THE MEDIEVAL FEUDAL SYSTEM – ALTAF HUSSAIN

Karachi – 29 March 2004

MQM Founder Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has stated that MQM’s struggle is not against a feudal or a jaagirdar but it is against the medieval and oppressive feudal system prevalent in the country.  He said the historical victory of the MQM in the by-elections for local bodies has weakened the roots of the feudal system.  And by the Grace of Almighty Allah, this medieval and oppressive feudal system will be completely abolished.  He was addressing a joint gathering of MQM workers and supporters in Karachi and Hyderabad.

Mr Hussain said that the Allah Almighty has showered His blessings since the permanent settlers of Sindh have started their struggle for the rights of Sindh Province.HusHu  He extended his gratitude and tribute to all the righteous elders, mothers, sisters, youth and workers on the historic victory in the local bodies by-elections.  Commenting on the situation in interior Sindh, he said that feudals and jaagirdars were in total control and they never allowed the educated Sindhis belonging to the poor and middleclass to come forward.  However, the situation has changed and today a large number of Sindhi people from poor and middleclass have been elected in the by-elections.  Now the ideological message of the MQM is spreading in every nook and corner of Sindh.  The terrorists and cahoots of feudal lords and waderas targeted and tortured Advisors to Chief Minister Faisal Gabol and Mumtaz Hameed, Member Interior Sindh Tanzeemi Committee Nisar Pahnwar and other MQM workers.  Referring to his conversation with one of the injured MQM worker from interior Sindh Mr Hussain said that when he asked for his health, the worker replied that to get injured in a true ideological Movement is a good omen and proves that we are on the right path.   Mr Hussain said that despite the highhandedness and cruelty of feudal lords and waderas upon the poor and MQM workers, the Haq Parast (righteous) candidates have been elected from interior Sindh, which proves that the roots of feudal system have weakened.  Moreover, in the next elections the common people will permanently abolish the medieval feudal system.  Addressing the feudals, jaagirdar and waderas Mr Hussain said that our struggle is not against any feudal, jaagirdar, wadera or their children but it is against the medieval and oppressive feudal system prevalent in the country.  He said that to finish the MQM an army operation was launched, the so-called religious parties attacked the MQM and the Establishment with all its resources unsuccessfully conspired to crush the MQM.  However, all these oppressive measures failed to destroy the MQM.  Therefore, the feudals, jaagirdars and waderas must now stop harassing and attacking the MQM workers and must now realise that throughout the 25 years struggle of the MQM whosoever has tried to crush the MQM with force has been obliterated as a natural retribution.  Mr Hussain said that following the democratic norms we wish to present our Manifesto to the people, MQM is a party of true ideological workers does not fear anyone but the Allah Almighty.  Mr Hussain paid tributes to all the MQM office bearers, workers and supporters for displaying determination and courage despite the terrorism and difficulties.  He also expressed his gratitude to the righteous Punjabis, Baloch, Sindhis, Pakhtoons and Seraiki people, especially Sikander Awan of Punjabi Pakhtoon Ittehad for their support in the by-elections.
