Dr Imran Farooq, MQM Convenor, while strongly condemning
the indiscriminate raids and arrests of MQM workers in Hyderabad and other
urban centres of Sindh, has said that according to the findings of the MQM
Intelligence Bureau, Major Shami, an officer of Pakistan Rangers in collusion
with the police officials involved in the extra-judicial murders of MQM workers
is responsible for the conspiracies and activities against the MQM. Prior to this Major Shami was posted in
Karachi, where during his activities against the MQM, he has been directly
responsible for the extra-judicial murders of dozens of MQM workers. He had formed a group of notorious police
officials involved in the extra-judicial killings including notorious SHOs
Zeeshan Kazmi, Aslam Khan and Sarwar alias Commando etc. All the persons in the group called him
"chief". According to MQM
Intelligence Bureau, a few months ago when he was being transferred from
Karachi to Hyderabad, all the notorious police officers of his group formed a
delegation and called upon the Inspector General of Police Sindh and the
officials of Military Intelligence to stop his transfer. The Military Intelligence also made a
special request to keep Major Shami posted in Karachi. Afterwards, the Director General Rangers
called Major Shami and told him that since he is now in the limelight due to
his activities in Karachi, therefore, he should move to Hyderabad but continue
his work in Karachi as well as Hyderabad.
At present, Major Shami and other notorious police officers that have
been transferred to the interior Sindh are responsible for the activities and
conspiracies against the MQM in Hyderabad and other urban centres of
Sindh. The recent spate of
indiscriminate raids and arrests of MQM workers is also a part of this
conspiracy.
MQM Intelligence Bureau has also revealed that during interrogation Major Shami threatens the arrested MQM workers to become his agents or face dire consequences. Those who refused to accept his offer are falsely charged in cases of heinous crimes. Dr Imran Farooq said that these horrendous activities of Major Shami are highly deplorable and the Major responsible for the murders of innocent persons. Dr Imran Farooq demanded of the Chief Executive General Parvez Musharraf to immediately issue orders to arrest Major Shami and try him for "crimes against humanity".
