EXISTENCE OF PAKISTAN IS BECAUSE OF SINDH - ALTAF HUSSAIN

London-10 June 2005 Mr Altaf Hussain, founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) said that the existence of Pakistan is because of Sindh and Sindh wishes to see Pakistan safe and sound. He further said that Sindh alone contributes 70 per cent of the total revenue generated in Pakistan to the national exchequer and, therefore, he demanded of the President and the Prime Minster to do justice with Sindh by providing due share to Sindh through the National Finance Commission Award (NFC) and refrain from undertaking such projects about which Sindh has apprehensions and concerns. He expressed his views during a telephonic address from London to the cities of Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Shahdadkot, Khairpur, Gohtki and Shikarpur simultaneously during a charity programme held under the auspice of Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation. During this charitable programme, goods worth Rs.2.6 million were distributed to the deserving poor people. The programme was attended by thousands of people from the neighboring areas besides Members of the MQM Central Co-ordination Committee, MQM Provincial Ministers, Advisors, Special Assistants, Senators and other office bearers.

Mr Altaf Hussain delivered his speech in Sindhi and Urdu. He further said that Muttahida Quami Movement was termed a party of urban areas. However, today the by the grace of Almighty Allah and through the grace of the Revered Saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai RH,  the MQM’s message is spreading in all nooks and corners of Sindh. He added that the poor and middle class Sindhis have been deprived of their right to rule for years and Altaf Hussain is the first son of Sindh who has provided this opportunity to poor and middle class Sindhis by making them Senators, Members of the National Assembly, Provincial Assembly and office bearers from the platform of the MQM which is the testimony of his practicalism. Addressing the youth, he said that we are duty bound to collectively defend the rights of Sindh. Questioning the youth, he asked that those who claim to be the defender of Sindh and claim to have the largest support of the people of rural Sindh, out of those which party had ever defended the interests of Sindh in the National Finance Commission Awards like the MQM? The participants answered “None”. He further re-iterated his demand that Sindh be given its due share in the National Finance Commission Award to enable it to build schools, colleges, hospitals and undertake other developmental projects. He also demanded due share of water for Sindh and warned not to build projects repugnant to Sindh. He said that he was the son of the soil of Sindh and is rendering his duty to Sindh by providing the rights to rule. He added that he would like to let the political and religious parties of Sindh know that now only the politics of loyalty would only be acceptable since the politics of betrayal has been totally rejected by the people of Sindh. Elaborating on the couplet of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai RH , he said that the Revered Saint wanted peace all over the world including Pakistan.

Mr Altaf Hussain said that he wanted to help every one in Sindh alongside Karachi, Hyderabad and other cities, he wanted to see prosperity in Sindh, Pakistan and world over. MQM also believes in the message of Shah Latif and offers support to those deprived of their rights, prosperity and even basic necessities of life. We not only want to help the people of Karachi and Hyderabad but also each and every poor and needy in every nook and corner of Sindh – and we want to see prosperity in the entire world including Pakistan and particularly Sindh. Mr Hussain said that since the beginning, the MQM established the Khidmat-e-Khalq Committee to help the poor and needy, which is today serving the people throughout the country, particularly Sindh. Reminding of the recent devastations caused by floods and torrential rains in Balochistan, NWFP and Kashmir, Mr Hussain said that the Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation immediately dispatched their relief teams with the essential relief goods to the affected areas. These teams even reach those remote areas, which were deprived of the Government aid. He said that we not only recite the poetry of Shah Latif but also implement the true spirit of his poetry in our relief activities and serve the poor and needy. He also referred to the recent Tsunami disaster whereby the MQM donated millions of rupees to the affected countries which again proves that we believe in serving the humanity regardless of the cast, color, creed and even religion.  Commenting on the distribution of relief goods worth Rs. 27,00,000 in the 8 cities of Sindh, Mr Hussain said that if we had more funds then we would have distributed more. Mr Hussain appealed to the affluent personalities to make generous donations to Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation or provide support on their own to the poor and needy because to serve the humanity is the biggest worship. He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant strength and courage so we can continue serving the humanity.
