OUR STRUGGLE IS NOT FOR AN INDIVIDUAL, A GROUP OF PEOPLE OR AGAINST ANY INSTITUTION – BUT IT IS AGAINST THE SYSTEM OF OPPRESSION AND INJUSTICES – ALTAF HUSSAIN

ADDRESS ON THE OCCASION OF SILVER JUBILEE
OF APMSO AT NINE ZERO, KARACHI

Karachi – 11 June 2003
Mr Altaf Hussain, MQM Founder & Leader, has stated that our struggle is not for an individual, a group of people or against any institution – but it is against the system of oppression and injustices.  We wish the country to flourish and develop.  If MQM is allowed to operate throughout the country for dismantling of the medieval feudal system which would guarantee the sustenance, development and prosperity of the country.  He was addressing the workers of theMQM and APMSO gathered at the Nine Zero in Karachi to congratulate him on the Silver Jubilee of the All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organisation (APMSO).  The Members of MQM Co-ordination Committee, Provincial Ministers, Members of Assemblies and members of various wings of the MQM were also present.

Mr Hussain said that for the past twenty-five years, various methods of oppression have been used to crush the Movement but with no success.  He said, “today on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of APMSO, I assure people at the helm of affairs that our struggle is not for an individual or a group of people, nor it is against any institution – but it is against the system of oppression and injustices.”  We want to abolish the medieval feudal system from the country.  These feudal take turn in ruling the country and the poor continue to face oppression.  In 1970, Awami League - representative party of the poor and oppressed – achieved landslide victory in the General Elections.  Unfortunately, people at the helm of affairs accepted the disintegration of the country for the sustenance of the feudal system but refused to give Awami League its legitimate right.  The action of 1970 must not be repeated, as it would not be fruitful for the survival of the country.

Mr Hussain said that certain elements are propagating that MQM is in Government, therefore, it would seek revenge.  He assured that MQM comprises of people having unique ideology and we do not believe in taking revenge.  We are aware that personnel of police, rangers or any other government agencies do not take any action on their own – in fact, they are bound to follow instructions of higher officials.  Officials who have done injustices against our people must pray for forgiveness from Allah Almighty and should now support the righteous.

Mr Hussain said that after 25 years, the followers of the ideological Movement could vanish but the Movement would sustain and would never be crushed by any force.  After 25 years, any ideological Movement transforms into a spirit – body can be vanquished but the spirit remain forever.  Even iron walls cannot prevent the spread of true ideology, which survives forever.  He said, “on this day of the Silver Jubilee of APMSO, I forgive all those people of political and religious parties and our political opponents who have since the first day of Movement used oppressive and terrorist acts against us.”  He also extended felicitations of the Silver Jubilee to them.  He asked the righteous  not  to subjugate the weak – the righteous always teach to stand up against the oppressors and side with the oppressed.

Mr Hussain extended his gratitude and appreciation to the martyrs of the Movement and termed their sacrifices as the basis of sustenance of the ideology, which must always be remembered.  He paid salutation to the detained MQM workers, displaced families, missing persons and their family members for their determination, commitment and resolve.  He said, “today is the 25th anniversary of APMSO and this Silver Jubilee is a proof that commitment, resolve, sense of sacrifice and belief on ideology are essential elements to carry on the journey of the Movement even during the unnerving phases.”  He also extended his gratitude to all the righteous Punjabis, Sindhis, Baloch, Pakhtoons, Seraikis and Mohajirs of Pakistan on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the APMSO.
