MUTTAHIDA MINORITY CONVENTION

29TH JULY 2005 IN KARACHI, PAKISTAN

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) is the only political party of Pakistan, which has achieved historic political milestones in the country.  Today for the first time in Pakistan, the MQM is once again creating history by organising the first ever Convention of minorities in the country. By participating in large numbers the Christians, Hindus, Parsis, Buddhists, Sikhs and members of other religions have demonstrated their full support and confidence in the leadership of MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain, which is highly commendable.

Today’s Convention demands from those at the helm of affairs:

  1. That immediate steps must be taken to ensure that all discriminatory and unjust laws of the country based on colour, creed, ethnicity, language and religion are abolished forthwith and all the religious minorities of the country awarded equal rights as the citizens of Pakistan.

  1. That we not only express our concerns over the spread of extremism in the country and throughout the world but also vehemently condemn all such acts.

  1. To guarantee protection and safeguards to the lives, property and places of worship of all religions.
