SINDH WILL NOT BE DIVIDED UNDER ANY CONDITION: ALTAF HUSSAIN

KARACHI: 8TH JANUARY 2012

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said in unequivocal terms that the province of Sindh is an integral whole, and it will remain one. There does not arise any question of the division of Sindh. The inhabitants of Sindh will sort out their differences through mutual discussion, but they will not let Sindh to be divided. He was addressing a large gathering of Baloch, Sindhi, Barohi, Kachhi, and Pakhtun dignitaries in Lal Qila Ground, Karachi.

Mr Hussain demanded of the government that Hazara and Seraiki provinces should be created according to the wishes and aspirations of the people. He said that the tribal areas should also be incorporated into a full-fledged province as “Qabailistan."

Mr Hussain welcomed the dignitaries and said that the poor people belonging to Baloch, Sindhi, Pakhtun and other nationalities have been deprived of their basic rights since the independence of the country. While the poor people had barely sufficient means to feed, clothe and shelter their children, the rich feudal lords were flush with wealth. Their children obtain education in foreign countries, whereas there were no schools for the children of poor people in the country.

Mr Hussain said that the feudal lords and chieftains had been acting on the policy of “divide and rule." They enjoy themselves but set the poor people against each other. It is always the poor people that die because of the machinations and intrigues of these feudal lords and chieftains.

Mr Hussain said that the MQM is the voice of the dispossessed people of the entire country and not only the Urdu-speaking people. He asked the Co-ordination Committee and elected representatives to embrace the poor people belonging to Baloch, Sindhi, Kachhi, Pakhtun and other nationalities at Nine Zero and solve their problems. He asked the dignitaries to consider Nine Zero as their home as its door would always be opened for them.

Mr Hussain said that he wanted peace in Sindh. He asked the elected representatives of the MQM to spare some time for the areas in the outskirts of Karachi as well besides concentrating on their constituencies. He asked them to work for ameliorating their problems as well.

Mr Hussain once again demanded of the government to cut extravagant expenses in order to reduce financial crisis. He said that the government must immediately reduce expenses by 90 per cent.
