MQM DOES NOT WANT SINDH TO BE DIVIDED: ALTAF HUSSAIN

CONVERSATION WITH OFFICE-BEARERS AND WORKERS IN SUKKR ZONE

LONDON: 21ST JANUARY 2012:

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has stated in unequivocal terms that the MQM does not want the division of Sindh. The MQM wants to create harmony, brotherhood and unity among the permanent residents of Sindh. The MQM is against the division of Sindh whereas the so-called nationalists were acting on the plans to divide Sindh by their poisonous propaganda at the behest of foreign powers. He expressed these views while talking to the office-bearers and workers of the MQM busy in making preparations for the MQM Convention “Strong Sindh, Prosperous” Pakistan in Sukkur on 27th January.

Members of the Interior Sindh Tanzimi Committee (ISTC) and Sukkur zone informed Mr Hussain about the preparations being made for the convention and the public fervour.

Mr Hussain said that the MQM has been struggling for the rights of the people of Sindh, and it will continue to do so in future as well. The so-called nationalists, on the other hand, who had called a strike against the 20th constitutional amendment bill of the MQM paving the way for the Hazara and Seraiki provinces had always compromised the rights of Sindh.

Mr Hussain said that if the nationalists do not want the Seraiki and Hazara provinces, they should come up with it publicly instead of blaming the MQM for the division of Sindh. The MQM is making practical efforts for the rights of the oppressed and downtrodden people. It has presented the 20th constitutional amendment concerning  the creation of the Hazara and Seraiki provinces, but it has never spoken about the division of Sindh.

Mr Hussain said that despite our clear stance on the issue, the nationalist elements were spreading hatred among the permanent inhabitants of Sindh. The people of Sindh should see through the conspiracies of the nationalists. They should forge unity in order to frustrate the conspiracies of the nationalists. The intellectuals, columnists, journalists, students, youths, Ulema, and people across different spheres of life must remain vigilant about the conspiracies to kindle the fire of hatred in Sindh.

Mr Hussain said that the public convention of the MQM in Sukkur will prove to be the most successful not only in the history of the province of Sindh but also of the country. It will become a landmark in the struggle for the rights of poor farmers, peasants, labourers and workers.

Mr Hussain said he was confident that the people of Sukkur would turn out in large numbers at his appeal for attending the convention. He hoped that women would also attend the convention, and it will become the largest in terms of participation from women.

Mr Hussain asked the people of Sukkur and the adjoining areas to participate in the Sukkur convention on 27th January in big numbers. He appealed to them to listen to the MQM philosophy and manifesto and then decide about their future.

Mr Hussain praised the MQM the office-bearers and workers for their untiring efforts.
