According to recent
information received at the International Secretariat in London, on 4 January
2001, at around 1.45 a.m., Ameen, Incharge of MQM Burns Road Sector has been
arrested from his temporary resident from Block-7 in Federal B Area,
Karachi. Another MQM worker Kamran son
of Aslam who was also present in the house was also arrested along with
Ameen. Since their unlawful arrest,
they have been kept at unknown destination.
Till the filing of this report, there whereabouts are unknown.
Earlier
during the day, plain clothed personnel of law enforcement agencies arrested
Mohammad Shoaib from his workplace in Karachi.
We have strong apprehensions that Mohammad Shoaib, Ameen and Kamran are
being brutally tortured and being forced to sign pre-written confessions.

Mohammad Ameen 30, son of Abdul Rasheed, resident of Burns Road in
Karachi. He is the incharge of MQM
Burns Road Sector. He was an employee
of Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA).
