Dr Imran Farooq, Convenor MQM Co-ordination Committee, has termed the statement of Interior Minister Moeen Uddin Haider as shameful and pathetic. He said that it is obvious that the General Moeen Uddin Haider had replied to the statement of Mr Altaf Hussain without even reading it. He said that Moeen Uddin Haider should have concentrated on the conversation of Mr Hussain with the pressmen, which has been reported in the press, instead of playing golf. In the meeting with the pressmen, Mr Hussain has sworn over the Holy Quran that till today, he had never met with any representative of India or its agency RAW.
After this sworn statement of Mr Hussain, General Moeen Uddin Haider should have called the meeting of the Establishment. In this meeting, serious thoughts should have been given and this statement should have been welcomed. Furthermore, for the betterment of the country, the on going State operation against Mohajirs and the MQM should have been stopped. However, this did not happened and Moeen Uddin Haider chose to issue provocative statements against Mr Altaf Hussain. Dr Imran Farooq said that we could also have issued counter statements against Moeen Uddin Haider using the same provocative language but it is against our culture and teachings. Therefore, we would like to put some questions for General Moeen Uddin Haider and if he is a true patriot then he should answer these questions publicly.
Dr Imran Farooq reminded Moeen Uddin Haider that during his tenure as Governor, several MQM workers and supporters were extra-judicially murdered, which he himself had also acknowledged. What have you done to apprehend and hang those responsible for these extra-judicial murders? Why the Army started the operation against the Mohajirs on 19 June 1992? And why is this operation still continuing even today? During this operation, why were more than 15000 Mohajirs were murdered? Who is responsible for these murders? Until today, why have not even a single murderer been sentenced so far? Who brought the Haqiqi terrorists on Army trucks to Karachi? Who armed them with kalashinkovs, supplied them with money and a licence to kill? Who abducted and most ruthlessly extra-judicially executed the 66-year-old brother Nasir Hussain and 28-year-old nephew Arif Hussain of Mr Altaf Hussain? Is it not the responsibility of the Government to investigate into these killings? Nasir Hussain and Arif Hussain were non political and if Mr Altaf Hussain was to be blame for something then why the punishment was meted out to Nasir Hussain and Arif Hussain? Why did your agencies abducted and extra-judicially executed them? Why their murderers have not been punished so far? Were Nasir Hussain, Arif Hussain and more than 15000 Mohajirs who were extra-judicially executed not Pakistani citizens?
Addressing Moeen Uddin Haider, Dr Imran Farooq said that you claim to be in sorrow at the incarceration of Mohajir youth. If it is true then why are you not releasing them? What kind of sorrow is it that instead of releasing them you are helping to award them death sentences through the kangaroo courts (i.e. Anti Terrorist Courts) and if anyone of these youth is released on bail then he is rearrested at the prison gates.
Dr Imran Farooq said that arms are not manufactured in Karachi nor the people of Karachi engage in this trade. General Moeen Uddin Haider should inform us that why a military operation is not launched in the areas where these arms are manufactured in factories. Dr Imran Farooq ask to recall that earlier Mr Altaf Hussain had raised serious questions through his open letters on the issues of East Pakistan Tragedy, Assassination of Liaquat Ali Khan, C-130 Plane Crash and other national tragedies. But to date not a single responsible person including Moeen Uddin Haider, the Government and the Establishment had the moral courage to inform the nation of the answers to these questions. The nation will soon learn what Moeen Uddin Haider, who claims to be truly patriotic, has to say in reply to the questions raised by us.
