ALL SOLUTIONS ARE PRESENT IN THE TREASURE TROVE OF HUMAN MIND - ALTAF HUSSAIN

London – 4 February 2001

Mr Altaf Hussain, founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) emphasised that students should pay full attention on their education and ponder because education and the act of pondering activates the inactive cells in the human minds treasure trove. He said this while addressing the workers and the office bearers of the APMSO (All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organisation) at the Central Office of the MQM commonly known as “Nine Zero” in Azizabad, Karachi and Hyderabad Zonal Office simultaneously over the telephone from London.

Mr Altaf Hussain elaborated that there is no bigger treasure than human brain. He said that radio; television, computer, Internet, aeroplane, space ship, binocular, satellite and all other inventions are the products of the human brain. Similarly, the subjects of biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, astronomy, medicine, genetic, philosophy and the branches of literature and education are also the products of the human brain, meaning that human mind is such where everything is present. However, it is up to an individual whether he or she meditates enough to open up the cells of his or her brain  because education and study activates the inactive cells of the human brain.

Mr Altaf Hussain said that thousands achieve degrees every year but not all become Einstein, Newton or Archimedes, those who search the treasure trove of their brain, they indeed, become Einstein, Newton and Archimedes. Furthermore, if one achieves the degree for the heck of it, they do achieve the degrees but not the wisdom present in the treasure trove of their brain.

Mr Altaf Hussain stated that the first message of God descended on the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was “Iqra”; the meaning of which according to the dictionary means “read” however, its doctrinal meaning is pondering, studying, seeking and searching. The act of studying and pondering opens up the doors of the mind’s treasure trove and those nations who achieve education through the process of studying and pondering, become developed and superpowers in the world. But, those nations, who only study to achieve degrees, they remain backwards and dependents on others. He said that through cheating and copying in the examination, nothing is achieved; copy could produce imitation but not real. One can emulate Mehdi Hasan but could not become Mehdi Hasan simply by imitating him. Eloquently addressing the workers and youth, he advised not to deceive themselves and others and instead of cheating, achieve education through studying in depth and pondering that they become such a symbol that others imitate them instead of them imitating others. This process will open up their brain and resolution of all problems would come forth. He said that the Establishment possesses wealth, power, army, police, media and the rest while we have nothing. We can counter their conspiracies through our brainpower and seek resolutions of all the problems. He vowed not to surrender before the Establishment and neither to compromise on his principles. He said that thousands of his beloved colleagues including his brother and nephew have been martyred and he will not trade their blood and conscience. Whatever he possessed, he sacrificed for the Movement and whatever he has, he is ready to sacrifice. He stated that he has tied in the wedlock and would not hesitate not only to sacrifice his own life but also that of his wife.

Mr Altaf Hussain said that on 3rd. February 1981, the student organisation of the Punjabi Establishment, the “Islami Jamiat-e-Tulaba” had attacked the stalls of the APMSO and kicked out the APMSO from the University and all the educational institutions of Karachi on gunpoint. The Establishment had fear of the prevalence of the APMSO in the educational institutions of Karachi, which was proliferating rapidly as a result of the popular support in all the educational institutions all over Sindh province. The Establishment also imposed bans on Elections in the educational institutions. On 3rd. February 1981, having kicked the APMSO out of the university and other educational institutions, the Islami Jamiat-e-Tulaba and the Establishment were jubilant that they had crushed the APMSO. However, we continued our work in every nook and corner and in all the neighbourhoods, we did not lose heart, finally the day came when we kicked out the patron of the Islami Jamiat-e-Tulaba who had kicked us out from all the educational institutions at gunpoint, the political party Jamat-e-Islami from urban Sindh on the strength of our electoral support. He said that often powerful human beings intoxicated in power begin to perceive themselves as God, forgetting the fact that the real power is that of God in whom they believe.

Mr Altaf Hussain said that on 19th. June 1992, an army operation was launched to crush the MQM during which unlimited state power was used and the operation is even continuing to date in one form or the other. He stated that by the grace of God, it is now 2001 and that the APMSO and the MQM are both present and intact but the country is faced with economic decay and surviving on aid, grants and loans.

Mr Altaf Hussain stated that if the Establishment did not change its attitude, then God forbid, nature’s retribution may repeat the course, which may result in the exclusion of Sindh from Pakistan the way Jamat-e-Islami was excluded from the urban areas of Sindh province. He emphasised that he does not want to break Pakistan but would like to keep it intact, but if the people at the helm of affairs insist on bestowing all privileges and powers to one son only while depriving the rest of the sons, then the sons would rebel and separate themselves from the father. He said that it is the duty of the Establishment to ponder whether to keep the country or break it. In the past, the country was fragmented not by the MQM or people of Sindh but the Generals of the Army, testimony of which is the Hamood-ur-Rahman Commission Report. Everyone can reach to the conclusion, by studying the Hamoour-Rahman Commission Report, whether the Establishment and the Generals of the army or the people of Pakistan are responsible for the destruction and devastation of the country?

Finally, concluding his speech Mr Altaf Hussain appealed to the workers of the APMSO and the students to pay full attention to their education to seek knowledge, arm themselves with knowledge and education and prepare themselves physically and mentally for the coming days because the students are the spinal cord of all nations and Movements.
