TO HELP THE VICTIMS OF EARTHQUAKE AND DROUGHT, DONATE GENEROUSLY TO KHIDMAT-E-KHALQ FOUNDATION – ALTAF HUSSAIN

London – 13 February 2001

Mr Altaf Hussain, Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), has appealed to public, particularly the affluent and prosperous people, to come forward and generously donate to Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF), to help the victims of earthquake and drought in Thar and Sindh.  He requested that the relief goods such as duvets, blankets, clothing, foodstuff, provisions, daily utensils, medicines and cash could be deposited at the KKF Offices in Karachi and Hyderabad.  Mr Hussain also earnestly appealed to the pharmaceutical companies to come forward and donate as much medicine as possible so that effective and proper medical assistance could be provided to the affected.

Mr Hussain said that apart from assisting the needy people, the KKF is also making every effort to provide support to the victims of earthquake and drought in Thar and other parts of interior Sindh.  A few days ago, with the assistance of KKF, the MQM Medical Aid Committee organised free medical camps in the remote areas of Sindh and Balochistan including Thar.  Similarly, KKF volunteers also reached out to help and provide relief goods to the victims of the recent earthquake.  Now the MQM Medical Aid Committee is again organising free medical camps on 15 and 16 February at Bhit Shah and Sehwan Sharif, where free medical treatment and medicines would be distributed.

Mr Hussain praised that the KKF despite its limited resources has strived to carry out its relief activities to the affected, poor and needy people.  Mr Hussain once again earnestly appealed to the affluent and prosperous persons to come forward in the name of humanity and take part in the relief activities of the KKF by donating a part of their wealth for the survival of the victims of earthquake and drought.  In the end he appealed to all the donors that they could also send their cash donations through credit cards at the KKF website http://www.kkfonline.org.
