RESTORATION OF BAHAWALPUR SHOULD BE DECIDED ACCORDING TO THE WISHES OF THE PEOPLE: ALTAF HUSSAIN

MQM FULLY SUPPORTS THE RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE OF BAHAWALPUR

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the MQM fully supports the rights of the people of Bahawalpur and the issue of restoration of the Bahawalpur province should be decided according to the wishes and aspirations of the people of Bahawalpur. He said this while talking to former federal minister Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani. Mr Durrani hailed the public meeting being held by the MQM in Multan on the 23rd December and extended his full support for it.

Mr Durrani said that Bahawalpur was an independent state before the partition of the sub-continent that had acceded to Pakistan. Bahawalpur was given the status of a province in the first draft constitution of the country but in 1970, it was made a part of the Punjab. He said that the people of Bahawalpur had a lot of expectations from Mr Hussain.

Mr Hussain said that the MQM was making struggle for the deprived and dispossessed people in the country. The MQM fully supported the rights of the people of Bahawalpur, and the issue should be resolved according to the wishes and aspirations of the people of Bahawalpur. He assured Mr Durrani that he would raise a voice for highlighting the sense of deprivation prevailing in Seraiki belt and the people of Bahawalpur. He said that he would make important announcements in this regard.

 

TELEPHONIC CONVERSATION BETWEEN ALTAF HUSSAIN AND REHMAN MALIK

Federal Minister for Interior Mr Rehman Malik telephoned the founder and leader of the MQM Mr Altaf Hussain and discussed with him the overall political situation in the country. Mr Hussain welcomed the arrival of President Asif Zardari in the country and expressed his well wishes for the president. He said that it was the need of the hour to exhibit unity by rising above political expediencies. Mr Malik thanked Mr Hussain for expressing good wishes for President Zardari. He said that Mr Hussain has supported President Zardari like a true friend and that his services for democracy would never be forgotten. Mr Hussain praised Mr Malik for bringing peace and harmony in the country.
