FOR PAKISTAN’S SURVIVAL ALL PROVINCES SHOULD BE PROVIDED WITH FULL PROVINCIAL AUTONOMY – ALTAF HUSSAIN

Karachi – 28th December 2005

For the safety and security of the country and national unity it is essential that all provinces are provided full provincial autonomy, not to take such steps against the disheartened people of these provinces, alleviate their grievances and not to stress upon the projects which create more differences and are harmful for the national unity. MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain was expressing these thoughts while addressing the newly elected Naib Nazims in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Tando Adam, Shahdadkot Sajawal. Also present on the occasion were the MQM workers in large numbers.

Mr Hussain said that the victory of Haq Parast is the victory of the oppressed and deprived people of Sindh, Balochistan, Pakhtoonkhwah (NWFP) and Punjab including Seraikis and Kashmiris, the oppressed minorities and womenfolk of the country. He said that the philosophy of realism and practicalism is spreading in every nook and corner of the country and a day will come when the country will be ruled by the deprived and oppressed people of the country.

Mr Hussain said that Pakistan is faced with a critical situation in the dynamic international scenario after 9\11 and we must struggle to promote and strengthen the one-nation concept. We must rid the country of those who have confronted the citizens of the country against each other. He also stressed upon the need of unity between all the ethnic and linguistic entities, sects, schools of thoughts and different sections of the society. He said that we must eliminate all forms of discrimination and abolish the medieval feudal system from the country and establish true democracy, fully independent and autonomous judiciary and the rule of law. Equal and affordable justice is available to all, health facilities are improved, dual education system is abolished and the education system is revised in line with the demands of the 21st Century and necessary amendments be provided constitutional protection. The system justice should be so that if the Supreme Court takes suo moto action against serving food during the marriage ceremony is prohibited then this should be applicable to each and every section of the country. He also stressed upon the need to promote religious harmony and take immediate steps to improve the law and order situation of the country. To establish sustainable peace in the region, positive efforts are needed to friendship with the neighbouring countries. Mr Hussain said that we are not against any party but we are against all sorts of extremism and believe that all sections of the country including various sects and religion should have the right and liberty to live their lives according to their beliefs. He reiterated that we earn our living from our motherland Sindh, which is the land of Sufis and which spread the message of peace and we will continue our struggle for its rights and provincial autonomy. He stressed again that for the survival, safety and national unity of Pakistan it is essential that all provinces are provided with full provincial autonomy, not to take such steps against the disheartened people of these provinces and alleviate their grievances. The current geographical scenario of the country demands not to stress upon the projects which create differences and are harmful for the national unity. He demanded not to make controversial dams, the ongoing operation in Balochistan is stopped immediately and all issues are resolved through peaceful and meaningful dialogues.

Mr Hussain reminded the newly elected Naib Nazims to serve the public and also to work with the opposition. He paid rich tributes to the workers, mothers, sisters and elders for their steadfastness despite all odds. He also paid tributes to the MQM workers, Members of Medical Aid Committee, Paramedical Staff and KKF volunteers for their relief work in the earthquake affected areas of Azad Kashmir and NWFP.
