A STRONG PRESIDENT AND PRIME MINISTER ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THE COUNTRY’S SOLIDARITY

London: 31 August 2004 The National Assembly speaker Choudhry Ameer Hussain held a meeting with the MQM leader Mr. Altaf Hussain on Tuesday at the MQM International Secretariat London. The MQM Acting Convenor Tariq Javed and members of MQM Co-Ordination Committee M. Anwar and Tariq Meer were also present.

The leaders discussed the world situation since 11 September with particular reference to the problems faced by Muslim countries. In this context the political and economic condition of Pakistan was also discussed. In view of swiftly changing International scenario the need for National unity among the provinces and all ethnic and cultural groups was emphasised. It was jointly stated that for the solidarity of the country it is a must that all the democratic and law abiding parties should join hands and resolve the issue through dialogue and mutual understanding. They further stated that the differences and complaints of provinces should also be resolved through dialogue. Mr Altaf Hussain said that through foresight and courage President General Parvez Musharraf achieved greater stability for Pakistan after the horrors of 11 September that had placed the world in turmoil. He further stated that within the parameters of the constitution and democracy in view of the prevailing International situation a strong President and Prime Minister are essential for the country’s solidarity.

Many other topics of mutual interests were discussed during the meeting that lasted for two hours.
