Mr Altaf Hussain, MQM Founder and Leader, has stated
that the disclosures made in the Intelligence Report of the The News on 29
August 2000, regarding the misappropriations by the army generals and the
publication of the Hamoodur Rehman Commission Report has exposed massive
corruption and irregularities of the army generals.
He said that the present military government made
tall claims to rid the country of corruption and to hold the accountability of
those involved in corruption. However,
these “tall claims” proved to be nothing more than the bogus and phoney claims
of the juggler politicians.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) could only
find Dr Farooq Sattar who was allegedly involved in a minor misappropriation of
three (3) crore Rupees in comparison with major plunderers who was sentenced to
fourteen years rigorous imprisonment and twenty-one year’s disqualification
from politics which is a testimony to brazen political victimisation. Dr Farooq
Sattar, even today, lives in his small house where he was living before
assuming the position of the Mayor of Karachi and provincial Minister for the
Local Bodies.
Mr Altaf Hussain said that the National
Accountability Bureau (NAB) has not nabbed any Army Generals or high-ranking
officers of the armed forces who have become multi-millionaires and
billionaires in U S Dollars as a result of accepting kickbacks and commissions,
according to the News Intelligence Report. He further stated that the corrupt
politicians did not only shroud the misappropriations and foul deeds of the
army Generals but presented the Generals as angels and God forbid, the armed
forces of Pakistan as sacred as “Mecca” and “Medina”. They also certified Altaf Hussain as the enemy of the country and
issued him with certificate of treachery.
The only leader who raised his voice against the tyranny of the Army and
exposed the corruption of the plundering Generals and high-ranking officers of
the armed forces.
Mr Hussain further said that similarly none of the
renowned politicians who are involved in massive corruption of billions of
rupees has been arrested let alone being convicted. Addressing the public he pointed out that the country’s
foundation is decaying and how can we save the country and exterminate this
moth that has eroded the very foundations of the country.
Mr Hussain appealed to the principled and honourable
politicians and high-ranking officials of the army to show some courage and
inform the public of the misdeeds of the corrupt army generals and corrupt
politicians.

courageous army officials and politicians should now come forward and display
their courage or else…
Hamari dastan bhi na ho gi

phir dunya kay naqshon mein.”
