26 August 1999:

At around 4 a.m., the personnel of Nazimabad Police Station raided the residence of Shah Nawaz and arrested his brother Sarfraz. Sarfraz 24, son of Siraj Uddin is the incharge of MQM Unit 22, Sector Surjani Town.

24 August 1999:

The personnel of Taimuria Police Station and Sharifabad Police raided the temporary residence of Ameen Uddin Pirzada and arrested his brother-in-law Dr. Farooq.

22 August 1999:

In the morning the personnel of Super Market Police arrested Ejaz Ahmed. Ejaz Ahmed is an MQM worker of Nawabshash.

19 August 1999:

At around 2.30 a.m., the personnel of New Karachi Police Station raided the residence of Shafi, he is the Incharge of MQM New Karachi Sector. In his absence the raiding party ransacked the house and looted the valuables.

17 August 1999:

  1. At around 2 a.m., a team from Liaquatabad Police Station raided the residence of the grandmother of Inaam Butt in Lahore and arrested him. Inaam Butt 26, son of Javed Butt, is a worker of MQM Unit 164, Sector Liaquatabad. He is the resident of B-300, Qauidabad, Landhi, Karachi.
  2. At around 4 a.m., the personnel of Azizabad Police Station raided the house of Sohail Rana and arrested him along with his brother Kashif Khalil. Sohail Rana 30, son of Khalil Ahmed, is the resident of A-48/8 Azizabad, Karachi. He is the incharge of MQM Unit 153, Sector Federal B. Area.

16 August 1999:

The personnel of Saeedabad Police Station raided the residence of Kamran Akhtar and arrested him. Kamran Akhtar is an active worker of MQM Unit 112, Sector Baldia Town. He is the resident of C-3, Baldia Town, Karachi.

15 August 1999:

At around 7 p.m., the personnel of Nazimabad Police Station raided the residence of Saleem Qureshi and arrested him. Saleem Qureshi 27, son of Mohammad Taqi is a resident of Nazimabad, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 85, Sector Nazimabad.

13 August 1999

  1. At around 11 a.m., personnel of Police in plain clothes raided the house of Asif Ahmed Khan and arrested him. Asif Ahmed Khan 27, son of Atiq Ahmed Khan, is a resident of Pak Colony, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 187, Sector Pak Colony.
  2. At around 11 a.m., the personnel of Police in plain clothes raided the house of Mohammad Ahmed and arrested him. Mohammad Ahmed 25, son of Latif Ahmed, is a resident of House No. B-93, Asif Colony, Pak Colony, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 187, Sector Pak Colony.
  3. At around 11 a.m., the personnel of New Karachi Police Station and Police in plain clothes led by SHO Taufeeq Zahid raided the house of Mamoon Rashid and arrested him. Mamoon Rashid 33, son of Babu is a resident of New Karachi, Sector 5-F, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM New Karachi.
  4. At around 9 a.m., the personnel of police in plain clothes raided the residence of Kamran and in his absence they arrested his younger brother Salman. Salman son of Mohammad Abdullah is a resident of 5-F, New Karachi, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 125, Sector Qasba Aligarh.
  5. At around 12 p.m., the personnel of Jauharabad Police Station led by SHO Azam Hayat, raided the temporary residence of Kamran and arrested him. He was immediately subjected to brutal torture. Kamran 24, son of Mujtaba, is a resident of Federal B. Area, Karachi. He is the incharge of MQM Unit 147, Sector Federal B. Area.
  6. At around 3 a.m., the personnel of CIA Police raided the temporary residence of Syed Naeem Hussain and arrested him. Syed Naeem Hussain 27, son of Syed Irshad Hussain, is a resident of 1774, Shadabad, Surjani Town, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Surjani Town.

12 August 1999

  1. At around 2 a.m., the personnel of police in plain clothes raided the house of Syed Mohammad Nasir. In his absence they ransacked the house, looted cash Rs. 10000 and arrested his younger brother Syed Mohammad Kamran. He was subjected to brutal torture to divulge the whereabouts of Nasir. The police then raided the temporary residence of Syed Mohammad Nasir and arrested him also. Syed Mohammad Nasir 22, son of Syed Mohammad Nabi, is a resident of House No. C-2/33, Asif Colony, Pak Colony, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 187, Sector Pak Colony.
  2. At around 10 p.m., the personnel of Saudabad Police Station arrested Shabbar Mehdi and Fakhr-e-Alam. Shabbar Mehdi is the Member of the MQM Malir Sector Committee while Fakhr-e-Alam is a worker of MQM.
  3. The personnel of Landhi Police Station raided several houses in Landhi and arrested five MQM workers Imam Alam, Azhar Imam, Rehmat, Yousuf and Guddu.

8 August 1999:

At around 7.45 p.m., the personnel of New Karachi Police Station, led by SHO Taufeeq Zahid, raided the residence of Mohammad Ali and arrested him. Mohammad Ali 22, son of Syed Shamim Raza, is a resident of New Karachi, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 140, Sector New Karachi.

7 August 1999

  1. At around 4 p.m., the personnel of Korangi Police Station led by DSP Akhtar Lodhi and SHO Ejaz Shah cordoned off the Korangi Area and arrested Abdul Faheem. Abdul Faheem 28, son of Abdul Majeed, is a resident of Korangi, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 77, Sector Korangi.
  2. At around 4 p.m., the personnel of Korangi Police Station led by DSP Akhtar Lodhi and SHO Ejaz Shah cordoned off the Korangi Area and arrested Mansoor Khan. Mansoor Khan 27, son of Masood Khan is a resident of Korangi, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 77, Sector Korangi.
  3. At around 3.30 a.m., the personnel of Mominabad Police Station raided the residence of Mohammad Rashid and arrested him. Mohammad Rashid 20, son of Mohammad Iqbal, is a resident of Orangi Town, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 125, Sector Orangi Town.
  4. In the evening, the personnel of Korangi Police Station, led by SHO Ejaz Shah, raided the temporary residence of Ejaz and arrested him along with six other MQM workers. Ejaz 23, son of Moeen, is a resident of Korangi, Karachi. He is the incharge of MQM Unit 72, Sector Korangi.
  5. In the night the personnel of Shara-e-Faisal Police Station raided the residence of Mohammad Ashraf, the incharge of MQM Unit. In his absence they ransacked the house and misbehaved with the family members.
  6. The personnel of Liaquatabad Police Station, led by ASI Rehan, arrested Naeem Siddiqui, Joint Incharge of MQM Legal Aid Committee, while he was on his way to his house from the City Court.
  7. The personnel of Khwaja Ajmer Nagri Police Station raided the house of Akbar and arrested him. They molested the female members of the family and then went to the house of the brothers of Akbar and arrested them also. Akbar is the incharge of MQM North Karachi Unit.

6 August 1999

  1. In the early hours, the personnel of Saeedabad Police Station raided the temporary residence of Mohammad Anwar and arrested him. Mohammad Anwar 21, son of Umeed Ali, is a resident of House No. 330, Saeedabad, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Baldia Town.
  2. At around 5 p.m., the personnel of Saddar Police Station arrested Khalid Mehmood while he was in travelling in a car. Khalid Mehmood 28, son of Karam Sheikh, is a resident of Orangi Town, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 125, Sector Orangi Town. He also performs his duties at Nine Zero, the MQM Head Office as a videographer.
  3. At around 12 p.m., the personnel of police in plain clothes raided the residence of Shahid Khan and arrested him. Shahid Khan 43, son of Yunus Khan, is a resident of PIB Colony, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 57, Sector PIB Colony.

5 August 1999:

At around 2.30 a.m., the personnel of Hyderi Police Station raided the temporary residence of Mohammad Hanif and arrested him. Mohammad Hanif 30, son of Abdul Shakoor, is a resident of House No. A-10, Khalidabad, Bloc-S, North Nazimabad, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 175, Sector North Karachi.

2 August 1999

  1. The personnel of CIA Police arrested Haji Saeed from the street of Shah Faisal, Karachi. Haji Saeed 40, son of Yaseen Ahmed is a worker of MQM Unit 103, Sector Shah Faisal, Karachi.
  2. At around 3:00 a.m., the personnel of Al Falah Police Station, led by SHO (Station House Officer) Jaweed Abbas raided the residence of Najam Uddin and arrested him. Najam Uddin 32, son of Naseem Uddin is a worker of MQM Unit 103 committee, Shah Faisal Sector, Karachi.
  3. The personnel of North Karachi Police Station raided the temporary residence of Ameer Ahmed Khan and arrested him. Ameer Ahmed Khan 34, son of Nazeer Ahmed Khan is a worker of MQM Shah Faisal Sector Committee. He is being detained at the North Karachi Police Station. He has been brutally tortured and implicated in false cases.

31 July 1999:

The personnel of Sukkan Police Station raided the residence of Ayub Shan. In his absence they ransacked the house and arrested his two brothers. Ayub Shan is a member of MQM Landhi Sector Committee. Those arrested are Mohammad Hafiz Shan 32, and Mohammad Yaqoob 35.

30 July 1999

  1. The personnel of CIA Police arrested Habib Shah from his shop at Agra Taj Colony, Lyari, Karachi. Habib Shah 53, son of Furqan Shah is a supporter of MQM Unit 01, Sector Lyari, Karachi.
  2. At around 9.30 p.m., the personnel of Sakhi Peer Police Station raided the temporary residence of Nadeem in Hyderabad and arrested him. Nadeem 26, son of Mohammad Ali, is a resident of Liaquatabad, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 165, Sector Liaquatabad.

27 July 1999

  1. The personnel of CIA Police arrested Shuja Uddin from street. Shuja Uddin 40, son of Mohammad Umer is a member of MQM Elder Wing, unit 10, Yousuf Goth, karachi.
  2. The personnel of Momanabad Police Station raided the residence of Noor Alam and arrested him. Noor Alam 50, son of Ali Hassan is a worker of MQM Unit 119. He is being detained at unknown place.
  3. The personnel of Buffer Zone Police Station raided the temporary residence of Sohail and arrested him. Sohail 28, son of Maqsood Hussain is a worker of MQM Unit 136A, North Karachi Sector, Karachi.
  4. At around 11:00 a.m., the personnel of Buffer Zone Police Station raided the temporary residence of Irfan and arrested him. Irfan 28, son of Mohammad Farooq is a worker of MQM Unit 136A, North Karachi Sector, Karachi.

25 July 1999:

The personnel of Taimoria Police Station arrested Kamran Uddin from the street. Kamran Uddin son of Ghyaz Uddin is a worker of MQM Unit 134, Sector North Karachi.

24 July 1999:

At around 3.40 a.m., the personnel of Samnabad Police Station along with other plain clothed personnel of law enforcement agencies in police mobile vans and other private cars (a red jeep and two white cars) raided the residence of Mohammad Yousuf Khan, Member of Provincial Assembly of Sindh and Member of Co-ordination Committee of MQM. The raiding party forcibly entered into the house, cut off all the phone lines and arrested his son Sohail Yousuf. He was immediately subjected to torture and taken to the Samnabad Police Station. At the Police Station he was forced by the police to make a telephone call to the house of Riaz Mustafa to call him for a meeting at the Chandni Chowk, Nazimabad, Karachi. Riaz Mustafa, brother of MQM Sector Member Rashid Mustafa was immediately arrested on his arrival at the Chandni Chowk. Both Sohail Yousuf and Riaz Mustafa were then shifted to the Jauharabad Police Station, where they are being unlawfully detained and subjected to inhuman torture.

Sohail Yousuf 33, son of Mohammad Yousuf Khan, is a resident of Federal B. Area, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 144, Sector Federal B. Area.

23 July 1999

  1. The personnel of New Karachi Police Station arrested Zulfiquar Khokhar, from Sector 11F, New Karachi. Zulfiquar Khokhar 26, son of Mohammad Ramzan is a worker of MQM Unit 142, Sector New Karachi, Karachi.
  2. At around 11:00 p.m., the personnel of Orangi Town No. 5. Police Station raided the house of Naihal Ahmed and arrested him. Naihal Ahmed 30, son of Manzoor Ahmed is a worker of MQM Unit 120, Sector Orangi Town, Karachi.

22 July 1999

  1. The personnel of CIA Police raided the house of Mukhtar and arrested him. Mukhtar 27, son of Younus is a worker of MQM Unit 24, Sector Burns Road, Karachi. The same police party raided the house of Akhtar, Ayub and Jabbar. In his absence they ransacked the house and misbehave with his families.
  2. At around 7 p.m., the personnel of Ajmer Nagri Police Station raided the temporary residence of Mohammad Ishtiaq and arrested him. Mohammad Ishtiaq 32, son of Mohammad Ishaq is a resident of New Karachi, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 139, Sector New Karachi.

21 July 1999

  1. At around 10:00 p.m., CIA Police and other plain clothed personnel raided the temporary residence of Shahab Raza and arrested him. Shahab Raza 36, son of Syed Sartaj Hyder is a worker of MQM Unit 179, Sector Nazimabad, Karachi. He is being detained at the unknown place.
  2. A around 4:30 a.m., the personnel of Joharabad Police Station and CIA Police raided the residence of Salman Farooqi, in his absence they ransacked the house and arrested his younger brother Irfan Farooqi 25, son Ghulam Mahboob Farooqi. The same police party raided the temporary residence of Salman Farooqi and arrested him. Salman Farooqi 29, son of Ghulam Mahboob Farooqi is a worker of MQM Unit 146, Sector Federal B Area, Karachi.

16 July 1999:

At around 10 p.m., the personnel of Liaquatabad Police Station raided the residence of Mohammad Shahid, near Erum Bakery in Liaquatabad No. 4, Karachi, and arrested him. He had came to his house to meet with his father, who is very ill. He was immediately subjected to severe torture. In the early hours of 17 July 1999, at around 2 a.m., the police party started firing in the air to portray that a police encounter is taking place. During this Mohammad Shahid was most brutally murdered by several gunshots fired from very close range. Mohammad Shahid 32, son of Dilawar, was a resident of Liaquatabad, Karachi. He was the Member of MQM Liaquatabad Sector Committee. He was married and had four daughters and a son. He was an employee of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) and served as a Law Officer.

14 July 1999

  1. Abu Bakar, senior Member of the Central Co-ordination Committee of the MQM Labor Division and the Chairman of CBA in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been abducted by the law enforcement agencies from Rafa-e-Aam Society in Malir, Karachi. According to details, on 14 July 1999, at around 12.45 in the night, he left Nine Zero (MQM Head Office) in Azizabad, Karachi in his Grey color Toyota Corolla car (Model 1998 -- Regn. No. AAE 794) for his residence in Rafa-e-Aam Society, along with a colleague who is also his neighbor. Between 1 a.m. and 1.30 a.m., he dropped his colleague at his residence and then left for his house which is at 5 minutes distance. He never reached his house and it is strongly feared that he has been abducted by the law enforcement agencies and that his life in danger.
  2. At around 7:00 a.m., the personnel of New Karachi Police Station led by SHO Taufiq Zahid raided the house of Baeeruz Zamman. In his absence they ransacked the house and misbehave with his family and arrested his two younger brothers Shahid and Abdul Qadir. The same police party raided the temporary residence of Baeeruz Zamman and arrested him. Baeeruz Zamman 25, son of Mohammad Badeeuz Zamman is an Incharge of MQM Unit 89, Sector Landhi, Karachi.

9 July 1999

  1. At around 1:15 a.m., the personnel of Momanabad Police Station raided the house of Imam Uddin. In his absence they ransacked the house and arrested his son Sharfuddin 28. Imam Uddin is a worker of MQM Elder Wing Committee.
  2. At around 9:00 p.m., the personnel of Taimuria Police Station arrested Nauman Ul Haq from the street of Hyderi, Karachi. Nauman Ul Haq 25, son of Mohammad Naeem Ul Haq is a worker of MQM North Karachi Sector.

5 July 1999

  1. At around 3:00 a.m., the personnel of Liaquatabad Police Station raided the temporary residence of Mohammad Sarwar and arrested him. Mohammad Sarwar 38, son of Nazar Mohammad is a member of MQM Labor Division, National Bank Unit.
  2. At around 3:15 a.m., the personnel of CIA Police raided the temporary residence of Kamran and arrested him. Kamran 28, son of Hafeez Ahmed Khan is a worker of MQM Unit 174, Sector North Nazimabad, Karachi.

4 July 1999:

At around 1:00 p.m., the personnel of Saudabad Police Station raided the house of Mohammad Riaz and arrested him. Mohammad Riaz 30, son of Mohammad Azad is a worker of MQM Unit 101, Sector Malir, Karachi.

3 July 1999

  1. At around 5:40 a.m., the personnel of Sharifabad Police Station raided the house of Ahmed Usama Shoaib at Flat No. 11 Block No. 7, opposite Nighat Square, Karachi, and arrested him. Ahmed Usama Shoaib 22, son of Shoaib Ahmed is a worker of APMSO, student wing of MQM.
  2. At around 5:45 a.m., the personnel of CIA Police and other law enforcement agencies raided the house of Kashif Rauf and arrested him. Kashif Rauf 25, son of Rauf Ahmed Khan is a worker of APMSO, Sindh Medical College Unit, Karachi.

2 July 1999

  1. The personnel of Orangi Town Police Station arrested Jawed from the street. Jawed 17, son of Ahmed Hussain is a brother of an MQM worker Akhtar Hussain.
  2. On 2 July 1999, at around 1.30 a.m., the personnel of Frere Police Station in plain clothes ruthlessly murdered Waqar, an active worker of MQM Unit 6, Sector Defence. According to details, plain clothed personnel arrested Waqar from a restaurant in Delhi Colony, Karachi. Immediately after his arrest, Waqar was shot down at point blank range. For the next two hours no one including his family members were allowed to remove the corpse from the street. Waqar 21, son of Siddique is a resident of Delhi Muslim Colony, Karachi. He was unmarried and leaves behind his elderly parents and seven sisters. It is important to note that for the past several days ASI Khurram and ASI Babar of Frere Police Station were inquiring about his whereabouts and threatening the family members and neighbors that Waqar would be killed as soon as he is apprehended.
  1. At around 2:15 a.m., the personnel of CIA Saddar Police raided the house of Shafique and arrested him. Shafique 45, son of Shafi Mohammad is a worker of MQM Unit 24, Sector Burns Road, Karachi.
