POLICE RAID AND ARREST OF MQM WORKERS IN SUKKUR, SINDH PROVINCE, PAKISTAN.

Today, at 8:45 p.m., PST while the MQM leader Mr. Altaf Hussain was addressing a gathering of party workers about the Pakistan Independence Day in Sukkur, Sindh province, the police raided and disrupted the meeting. The police arrested all the workers and office bearers. During the raid police confiscated the telephonic equipment and manhandled the organisers. Mr. Altaf Hussain made a passionate appeal to the police officers not to disturb the peaceful gathering about the Independence Day celebrations and release all those arrested, but to no avail. The police carried on their unconstitutional act regardless. Contact with the organisers cannot be established after a lapse of one hour.
