LIFE IN DANGER

 

NAEEM SIDDIQUI, JOINT INCHARGE OF MQM LEGAL AID COMMITTEE UNLAWFULLY ARRESTED IN KARACHI

7 August 1999

Today, on 7 August 1999, in the evening, the personnel of Liaquatabad Police Station arrested Mr. Naeem Siddiqui, Former Zonal Incharge Sukkur and Joint Incharge of MQM Legal Aid Committee from Bandhani Colony in Liaquatabad, Karachi. Mr. Naeem Siddiqui was returning to Nine Zero, the MQM Head Office, from the office of the MQM Legal Aid Committee.

Assistant Sub Inspector Rehan, who is involved in the custodial deaths of three MQM workers, Fareed Ahmed, Shameem Ahmed and Shahid led the raiding party. He was persistently threatening the family members of the MQM workers and the officials of the MQM Legal Aid Committee not to pursue the cases of custodial death against him.

Mr. Naeem Siddiqui has been taken to unknown destination and it is strongly apprehended that his life is in danger and he might be tortured while in custody.

He is being forced to change his allegiance.
