ALTAF HUSSAIN ASKS WHY THE POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS PARTIES ARE
SILENT ON SUFI MUHAMMAD’S STATEMENT OF TERMING THE SUPREME COURT,
HIGH COURT, 1973 CONSTITUTION AND PARLIAMENT AS UN-ISLAMIC

IF PAKISTAN IS FACED WITH ANY THREAT AND DAMAGE AS A RESULT THEN
NOT ONLY THE FOREIGN POWERS BUT ALSO ALL THE POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS
PARTIES AND THEIR LEADERS WHO ARE CRIMINALLY SILENT TODAY WILL BE EQUALLY RESPONSIBLE

 London – 21st April 2009

Mr. Altaf Hussain, Founder & Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) while strongly criticizing the political and religious parties of the country ha expressed his concerns at the criminal silence of political and religious leaders on the open threats of TNSM leader Sufi Muhammad where he had termed the provincial and national assemblies, senate, lawyer’s fraternity, supreme courts and the high courts, the unanimously agreed Constitution of 1973, democratic and judicial system, and democracy as kufr and un-Islamic (Ghair Sharai). He asked why these political and religious parties and its leaders for the perpetuation of their rule and in their party interest organize huge public gatherings, rallies, protest demonstrations, sit-ins and long march to register their protest a thousand times.

However, the same political and religious parties and other organizations were silent on the brazen threatening statements of Sufi Muhammad where he had ridiculed the Constitution and law of land; and termed the judiciary and parliament as un-Islamic. He questioned the bar councils that struggle of independence of judiciary and supremacy of Constitution and law; until recently they were courageously and bravely organizing and participating in protest demonstrations, sit-ins, long marches and public rallies and were also claiming to have sacrificed valuable lives in this struggle; but unfortunately, they too were silent spectators on keeping more than 450 lawyers away from the Qazi Courts rendering them redundant?

Mr. Altaf Hussain expressed his dismay on the criminal silence of the civil society, human rights organizations and women rights organizations on the threatening statements of Sufi Muhammad and leaders of Taliban. Mr. Hussain addressing the patriotic Pakistanis asked them to question their respective political and religious leaders on their criminal silence and demand why they were silent and showing neglect. Today, the world newspapers, magazines, periodicals and electronic media is candidly writing on Pakistan’s existence and safety; and informing that Pakistan is about to break up. In this scenario only the army, other law enforcement agencies, police and the MQM alone cannot save the country until and unless each and every Pakistani comes into the practical arena and convince their respective political and religious parties and their leaders to come forward and play their proactive and positive role to save the country.

He warned that if Pakistan is faced with any threat and damage as a result then not only the foreign powers but also all the political and religious parties and their leaders who are criminally silent today will be equally responsible. He earnestly appealed to the patriotic Pakistanis to consider this as an SOS (Save our Souls / save our Ship) Appeal and come forward to save the country.
