THE SUICIDAL ATTACK IN CHARSADDA WAS THE RESULT OF THE PEACE AGREEMENT
REACHED BETWEEN THE NWFP GOVERNMENT AND THE BARBARIC TALIBANS – ALTAF HUSSAIN

Mr Altaf Hussain, founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has strongly condemned the suicidal attack on the Police Check Post in Charsadda city of Pakhtunkhaw province in which 18 policemen including a DSP (District Superintendent of Police) were killed. Expressing his profound sorrow and condoling the bereaved families on this tragic deaths, he prayed that May Allah! bless them with martyrdom and place their souls in Jannat-ul-Firdaus and speedily recover the wounded.

Addressing the moderates, friends of humanity and patriotic people of Pakistan generally and particularly the people of Pakhtunkhaw province, Mr Hussain said that the Peace Agreement reached between the ANP (National Awami Party) government and the barbaric Talibans was hailed a grand success that was opposed by the MQM. However, adding further he said that today’s suicidal attack in Charsadda had proved that this agreement was not for peace and security but in fact, for terrorism, murder and mayhem. He held the NWFP (Northwest Frontier Province) government of the ANP and all those Members of the National Assembly responsible for this bloody incident who favoured the Agreement of murder and mayhem with the barbaric Talibans in the garb of peace.

Mr Altaf Hussain said that thanks God! We did not support this so-called peace agreement and abstained from the National Assembly. Mr Hussain appealed to the Chief Justice and all judges of the Supreme Court to take the suo-moto notice of this terrorism and order to register FIR (First Information Report) against the Provincial Government of ANP and all those Parliamentarians who supported the Murder and Mayhem Agreement. Mr Hussain said that despite being in the Government he strongly condemned the signing of the “Murder and Mayhem Agreement” reached between the barbaric Talibans and Provincial Government of the ANP. Reiterating, he appealed moderate and friends of humanity of the country to raise their voice against the “Agreement of Murder and Mayhem”.

Muttahida Quami Movement’s Founder and Leader Mr. Altaf Hussain said that religious extremists want to make entire country hostage and want to take the country to Stone Age. The time is running fast therefore, all the citizens who believe in Human Rights and Civil Liberty and the Civil Society leave aside all the differences should unite against Talibanisation. He was speaking on phone to Human Rights Commission of Pakistan’s Chairperson Asma Jehangir and Renowned Journalist and Member National Assembly Ayaz Amir.

Mr. Altaf Hussain said that Talibanisation is spreading rapidly, religious extremists want to impose their own system in the country in the name of Islam, and they want to deprive women of their right to get education and job. They want to snatch away the civil liberties and to eliminate all the liberal and enlightened people from the country. Mr. Hussain said that MQM is a liberal and ideological party which believes in religious harmony and civil liberties, this is the reason that we have opposed the Adl Regulations on principal grounds. He said that we were and are Muslim, we believe in oneness of God and Shariah of Holy Prophet (pbuh) but we don’t believe in Taliban’s self claimed Shariah.

Mr. Altaf Hussain said that growing Talibanisation and Terrorism are posing a serious threat to Pakistan’s security and survival and this situation demands that all the people from civil society and moderate forces should leave their differences behind and unite.

Ms. Asma Jehangir and Mr. Ayaz Amir congratulated Mr. Altaf Hussain on taking a courageous and principal stand against the Adl Regulations and said that the way MQM has taken stand against religious extremism has given support and courage to all the moderate forces and civil societies and on this issue they are with MQM.
