THE PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN WILL NOT ACCEPT “KALASHINKOVI SHARIAT”
IN THE NAME OF ISLAM – ALTAF HUSSAIN

London – 7th April 2007 The people of Pakistan are devoted to the Allah Almighty, Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Islam and strongly believe in tolerance, harmony and respect for humanity, therefore, they will not accept or allow any “kalashinkovi Shariat”. This was stated by MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain while speaking with the MQM office bearers from Pakistan visiting the MQM International Secretariat in London today. He said that for the past few days the act of coercion, extremism and terrorism committed in the name of Islam in Islamabad and terrorising peaceful shopkeepers, threatening them, ransacking the shops and vehicles; and misbehaving with women is not only in total violation to the teachings of Allah Almighty, Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Islam but also an act of maligning the image of Islam.  The Holy Quran clearly states, “Let there be no compulsion in religion… [2:286]”. Mr Hussain said that providing safety and security to the life, liberty and property of the citizens is the basic responsibility of the State and Government and because of the dual standard in the implementation of law and order our country is not only faced with various problems but the sense of deprivation is strongly felt by the smaller provinces. The MQM wants to eliminate this dual standard and wishes to establish a just and uniform system in all walks of life whereby there is no distinction in the implementation of law and basic rights and privileges are provided to all regardless of being rich or poor. Mr Hussain stressed upon the party workers and office bearers to understand the sensitivity of the situation, keep a close watch on the recent events; work hard, dedicatedly and honestly to face the challenges. He appealed to the people of Pakistan, mothers, sisters, elders and workers to remain united and mentally prepared to struggle against the unjustified imposition of extremism and fanaticism in the name of Islam.
