KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has awarded tickets to Sindhi-speaking candidates in the forthcoming by-election schedule for May 12.

In this connection, the party announced the names for two provincial and one National Assembly seats.

Ashfaq Mangi has been awarded the ticket for PS-31, Khairpur, and Yousuf Muneer Sheikh for PS-127, while Nisar Ahmed Panhwar has been given the ticket for NA-246.

This announcement was made at a press conference held at Nine-Zero, the party headquarters at Azizabad on Thursday.

Those present on the occasion included Senator Muhammad Zakir Ali Brohi, Member, National Assembly, Devdas, Member, Sindh Assembly, Farida Baloch, Heer Ismail Soho, and Pounjomal.

Addressing the press conference, they said that the Muttahida was the only party with its roots among the people of Sindh, representing the middle classes and the Sindhi-speaking people.

These Sindhi-speaking people, they said, had joined the party ranks to work for the depressed and downtrodden people of Sindh.

They appealed to the Sindhis to vote for these middle class people who are dedicated to resolve the basic issues and would end feudalism, instead of the "Jagirdars" and the "Vaderas". They called for unity to fight poverty and restoration of peace and tranquility, they added.
