IF THE KILLERS OF MUSTAPHA KAMAL AND NISHAT MALLICK ARE NOT ARRESTED WITHIN THREE DAYS THEN THE MQM WOULD ANNOUNCE ITS FUTURE LINE OF ACTION - MQM COORDINATION COMMITTEE

Karachi - 27 April 2002

The Central Coordination Committee of the MQM while strongly condemning the brutal and callous double murder of Member Coordination Committee and former Senator Mr Mustapha Kamal Rizvi and former Member of National Assembly Prof Dr Nishat Mallick has warned the Government that if the terrorist are not arrested within three days then the party would announce its future line of action.  A hurriedly called meeting of the Coordination Committee was convened at the MQM Head Office in Karachi to express its sorrow and grief over this barbaric act of terrorism.

The meeting while strongly deploring this act of terrorism declared that because of the efforts of MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain to bridge the gap between the Sindhi and Urdu Speaking Sindhis, the two are coming closer to each other and brotherhood, harmony and peace is flourishing between them.  The MQM organised a successful mammoth historic public gathering "Sindh Solidarity Convention" on 19 April 2002 at Nishtar Park in Karachi, to demonstrate its popularity and once again negate the propaganda that its graph has fallen.  The participation of millions of peoples speaking Urdu, Sindhi, Balochi, other languages, and belonging to different religion proves that the people of Sindh are getting united under the MQM banner.  Fearing from this growing unity, solidarity and harmony, and MQM's popularity, the Establishment has once again decided to punish the MQM by organising the assassination of Mr Mustapha Kamal Rizvi and Prof Dr Nishat Mallick (May Allah Almighty Rest Their Souls in Peace).  However, such cowardly and deplorable incident could never deter the MQM from continuing its peaceful struggle for the rights of Sindh.

The MQM Central Coordination Committee demanded of the President Musharraf to take immediate steps to arrest all those responsible for carrying out and planning the callous double murder of Mr Mustapha Kamal Rizvi and Prof Dr Nishat Mallick.  The Committee warned the Government that if arrests were not made within three days then the MQM would announce its future line of action.

The Coordination Committee appealed to the public to remain calm, peaceful and arrange for prayers, fateha khwani and Quran khwani in their homes, offices and institutions.  The Committee declared that such shameful acts of terrorism could neither deter us from struggling for the rights of Sindh nor it could dent the resolve of MQM leaders, office bearers, workers and supporters.  The peaceful struggle for the rights of Sindh would continue.

The meeting prayed to Allah Almighty for the forgiveness of Mr Mustapha Kamal Rizvi and Prof Dr Nishat Mallick.  Expressing their deepest gratitude and appreciations to Mr Mustapha Kamal Rizvi and Prof Dr Nishat Mallick, the Committee said that their services and sacrifices would always be remembered.  The meeting also extended their heartfelt condolences to members of the bereaved families and stated, "We and the entire nation share your sorrow and are with you in this time of grief".  The meeting prayed to Allah Almighty to bless the souls of Mr Mustapha Kamal Rizvi and Prof Dr Nishat Mallick and give courage and strength to the family members to bear this irreplaceable loss.
