Witness fails to identify Ahmed as Qadri's killer

KARACHI, April 9: Adnan who was wounded in an attack in which Javed Qadri, a leader of Sunni Tehrik, was killed, did not identify Ahmed Ali, joint chief of MQM Ranchore Line sector, as murderer, the police said.

The police said Ahmed was arrested in Hyderabad for his alleged involvement in the killing of Javed Qadri at Bohrapir on April 1 and wounding his nephew, Adnan, the only witness in the murder case.

The police claimed on Friday that Ahmed was brought by the police before Adnan to identify the suspect as killer of Javed Qadri but he could not recognize him as murderer. The police claimed that the murder seemed to be the result of an internal dispute within the party.

SSP South A. D. Khowaja said: "The police are following legal procedure for identification parade and a legal notice through a court will be issued to Adnan to once again identify the suspect now in the court."

Two unidentified motorcycle riders had gunned down Javed Qadri, a leader of the Sunni Tehrik, when he was sitting at his paint shop in Bohrapir and wounded his nephew, Adnan.
