“Paramilitary Rangers have accelerated the pace of arbitrary arrests of MQM workers after killings of two notorious gangsters of PSP gang in Aligarh-Qasba areas of Karachi – The arrested MQM workers are vehemently tortured in detention centres under the Rangers for change of their loyalty and for joining the notorious PSP gang, which the establishment has created in order to weaken and even eliminate MQM – Nadeem Nusrat”
 
Muttahidda Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Pakistan workers are facing acceleration in state repression in form of arbitrary arrests by the paramilitary Rangers particularly in Karachi’s Aligarh-Qasba areas. The paramilitary Rangers have accelerated the pace of tormenting the MQM workers through arbitrary arrests after killings of two notorious gangsters associated with the establishment-backed PSP gang.
MQM Coordination Committee Convener Mr. Nadeem Nusrat stated this in his statement issued here today in London.
He said that the paramilitary Rangers have in past three days kidnapped MQM Aligarh-Qasba areas workers Muhammad Rizwan and two of his brothers Muhammad Tanveer and Muhammad Faizan and Bilal Anees and Syed Tajdar Haider. In addition, the paramilitary Rangers have also kidnapped two All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organisation (APMSO) workers Furqan and Adeel. The paramilitary Rangers are also kidnapping MQM and APMSO workers from different areas of Karachi and other cities in Sindh province.
He said that, “The Paramilitary Rangers in extreme violation of the basic human rights are not sharing information of the kidnapped workers with their families, which is agonising them beyond expression.” “The kidnapped workers are being tortured in detention centres and they have yet not produced them in any court of law.”
He said that this repressive action of the paramilitary Rangers has taken the unprecedented height and they are doing this under a new conspiracy they have hatched against the MQM and Mohajirs in connivance with their puppet PSP gang they have created to weaken and even eliminate the MQM.
The Convener said that it is a known reality that the paramilitary Rangers and other law enforcing agencies on direct dictation and orders of the military establishment are targeting MQM workers one after another and torturing them for changing their loyalty and for joining their wingers, the PSP gang. Those MQM workers who refuse to change their loyalty are extrajudicially murdered and their mutilated bodies are dumped on deserted land in Karachi’s periphery.
He said that paramilitary Rangers are totally on their back foot from arresting the terrorists who are targeting cops in the port city of Karachi.
He said that the writ of the Pakistan’s judiciary has completely been compromised before the military establishment and the paramilitary Rangers do not respect the judiciary of Pakistan and hence they are acting in absolute contrast to the country’s constitution and law. Their raids do not carry any judicial approval in form of raid and arrest warrants and they do not produce the arrested to any police station as per law and they also do not produce them in any court of law but detain the arrested in absolute unlawful detention for months, torture them and even execute them extrajudicially.
The MQM Convener Mr. Nusrat said that just a few days ago, the spy agency of Pakistan kidnapped Khalid Hussain who is first cousin of father of Mohajir Nation and MQM founder leader Mr. Altaf Hussain. His family is yet has no clue about his presence in any detention centre. He is a known cardiac patient and had in recent past undergone open heart surgery and is on strict medication schedule.
Mr. Nusrat demanded that the arbitrary arrests of MQM workers should immediately be stopped and those unlawfully detained so far should also be released.
He said the kidnappers of MQM workers should abide by the law and they are ought to produce the arrested and kidnapped MQM workers in courts of law if they have any proof against them.
The MQM Convener Mr. Nusrat appealed to the Chief justice of Pakistan to take suo moto on arbitrary arrests and kidnappings of MQM workers by the paramilitary Rangers and do the justice.
