MQM holds 1st protest for water crisis in North Karachi

The Muttahida Quami Movement has organized a protest rally against the scarcity of water in Karachi. The protest was the first of the continuation of series of announced protests throughout the Sindh, especially in Karachi.
Talking on the occasion, member Coordination Committee Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that Karachi was city ran economic cycle of the country and earned nearly 65 percent of the revenue. He said that when Karachiites came on the road with their genuine demands, the tyrannical regime could not resist more.
He said that the water hydrant and tanker mafias were not belonged to Karachiites and if the authorities would not take notice on the protests, people would eliminate all the mafias from the city. He said that the mafias earned money from such sources and paid for the terrorism.
Dr Khalid said that Jamaat-e-Islami involved in various targeted-killings and attack on public and security institutions and tried to implicate Karachiites and their only political representatives in such heinous crimes. He demanded the management of K-Electric to provide uninterrupted electricity to the water pumps for the sake people’s sufferings.
While, the Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hasan said that people, especially the women and elderly men were sitting under the sky to register their demand to provide water. He said that MQM was continuously informing the authorities and the government officials regarding the current water crisis but they did not pay heeds to the problem.
He informed the people that when MQM Parliamentarians visited Dhabay Jee Pumping Water Station, they found number of illegal water hydrants running under the corrupt mafias. He said that the entire Pakistan knew about the current water crisis in Karachi and demanded the Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Minister for Local Government, including police and Rangers to eliminate 200 illegal hydrants throughout the city and provide water to the people.
Meanwhile, the second peaceful protest against the artificial water crisis in Karachi, will be held on Saturday 23rd May 2015 at 5:00PM at Karachi Press Club.
