LONDON. Jun 11, 2018: Pakistan was created by the forefathers and ancestors of Mohajirs, who are a victim in that very Pakistan at the hands of Pakistan’s military establishment. As party, the Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) produced mammoth rallies on streets in support of military, offered salutations but sorry to say the same military is butchering us Mohajirs and is bent upon eliminating us Mohajirs. Mohajirs are being crushed with all force and resources available to the military establishment of Pakistan.
MQM Founder Leader Mr. Altaf Hussain said this while addressing the audience at the MQM’s International Secretariat in London on Sunday night on the occasion of 40th Foundation Day of APMSO.
He said that there is a long history behind the formation of APMSO. It is loaded with tragic events. Since day one of the creation of Pakistan, Mohajirs were subject to discrimination, state-sponsored atrocities and injustices and sadly not a single voice was raised on all these injustices.
He said he was very young and a student as always was eager to get medical education. Equally as patriot Pakistani, he said, he always longed for serving the country by all means and from all aspects. That passion to serve the country pushed him to get training from Pakistan military as cadet. So he joined army and was sent to Hyderabad for military training there. He wanted to get Commission in Pak army. Amid training, a war with India was waged and then he was despatched to Somyani Beach. Soon the war over and on one day, he obtained top position in a competition but was ridiculed and denied due acceptance. He complained to his trainer, a Punjabi, who did not listen to him and even ridiculed him by calling names to him as Mohajir. He used derogatory term of “Hindustoray.” When he took his complain to a superior, who was also a Punjabi, he also rebuked and called his names. Not only this, he announced a punishment to him.
He said that, “The biased behavior and insulting treatment lefts deep impact on his mind, he said, adding that all non-Mohajirs in military were respected except Mohajirs”. “Mohajirs suffered from discriminatory and vulgar attitude of Punjabi military.” None of other cadets was ready to protest on that discriminatory attitude and then the overall impact pushed him to do something for Mohajirs. That impact on his mind, he continued to speak, led him to establish the APMSO on Jun 11, 1978 and it is working even today with full capacity.
Mr. Hussain said that the military started butchering Mohajirs on demanding rights and equal status of citizens of Pakistan. The state of Pakistan threw all available resources to eliminate Mohajirs.
He said that TV anchorpersons always speak about murders of cops who were killers, rapists, extortionist but never add 70-year old senescent MQM leader, academician, thinker and scholar Prof. Dr Hassan Zafar Arif, who was assassinated by the ISI in custody. The courts, at the other, also failed to dispense justice and the petitions filed in courts for justice remained unheard.

He said that a period of complete 40 years has passed in struggle for rights of Mohajirs in which thousands of Mohajirs laid their lives, were and are in jails, executed and being executed extrajudicially. “Mohajirs are not ready to discontinue their struggle midway and they would never”, vowed Mr. Hussain.
